Wow! You seem to have a lot of patience! All those super fine scales on the body!

Amazing! The amount of effort you put into this piece certainly stands out in the incredible detail. Well done

It was supposed to be a water dragon.. but the facial proportions are more those of an iguana. Let's says it's an hybrid..

This is absolutely AMAZING. It's so believable, I feel like I can actually reach out and touch its skin. I've never seen talent on this level before.
How large was the paper, and how thin was the pencil lead? I don't think I could ever get my pencil to behave that well.

Thank you very much!
The paper is a bit longer than the drawing; 12"x8.5", while the drawing itself measures 10"x 8.5".
My pencil leads are ordinary Pentel 0.5mm
I often 'sharpen' my lead by scratching it in an angle on another piece of paper, which give an even pointier end, when needed for very thin lines.
I think what it most difficult with leads and details is that the drawing wears off as you progress, either with transport of the drawing (I did this one while at school) or because of the smudging by my own hand. You have to be careful with how much pressure you apply, because too much will scratch the paper, and not enough will easily be smudged. I feel this is less of a concern with HB pencils.
I always thought I should have switched to HB pencils or something more professionnal, but eh, I love my mechanical pencils and their forever pointy leads!

Oh well, it seems to me that this featured piece of yours goes along the recently criticised photo of mine...
In deed, there's no comparition, but still, Im guessing that's why you felt attracted by it. good job

Well, thank you!, after seeing your draws I'm convinced by your talent and, from now on, I can trust your judgement...
keep drawing as it is, I'll be pacient...

Yeah. Mostly, when you feel like you'd like it goes faster, just leave the drawing and do something else. I had to erase parts of the scales when as it was just crappy because I went too fast. Another tip is to alternate on different parts of the drawing, like in this one I switched to the spine crest when I was getting tired of the scales. Holding patience as long as it is needed for such a drawing is something very difficult to do, and I'm still not as much patient as I'd like, sometimes.
Thanks for the comment
