Description
Sophomore year was the year I enjoyed most in college, but freshman year is probably the one I've looked back to the most. High school meant so much to me, and so much about me changed after I went to college. Back during my freshman year, I was still who I was when I was in high school: wide-eyed and optimistic; so willing to trust the people around me, and so willing to open up to and depend on them.Behind me lies the past—treasured memories of my expreiences in high school. A keyblade, representing all kinds of hilarious and bizarre conversations my slash-goggled friends would have about Kingdom Hearts. A Captain Falcon helmet, the symbol of my closest friend at the time and his obsession with competitive Smash. The Ring of Fire, one of the weapons from Tiramisu, the final game I attempted to create in high school. As I moved forward, I met new friends and grew distant from older ones. Even my interests changed, so these things were all left behind. But during that first year, they were all still fresh in my mind.
Before me lies some of the things I cherished in college, and what I would have thought to be the future. Little did I know that many of these things would soon vanish. But during those early college days, I felt a certain warmth, a certain innocence that I haven't felt since—the naive, childlike trust that I'd retained from a simpler world, still untainted by all the lampshades and deconstructions I'd undergo in college. Even after six years, that warmth has never left me, and that's what inspired me to create this image.
