Description The first form of life out of the water on Canaan. It's already developed the enzyme that stores ATP for later use and the organelle to stuff it in, allowing for bursts of activity in between long periods of lethargy, breath intake/gills powered by the locomotor muscles, and the endosymbiotic relationship with the bacteria that allows it to use high-frequency light waves to build a three-dimensional rotatable image of its surroundings. The later developments for dominant landforms are visible: manipulatory tendrils, a thicker, frontal tendril with a prong with which to produce digestive enzymes, and "sender" coils along its back.

Old scan; trying to find the original for a better scan. I'm also trying to find my "Book o' Producers," the guide to small critters that fill the niches that insects and bacteria do here on Earth. Going to start putting more Canaan stuff up as I find it in my old papers.

I've always thought so.

What really gets me is that I found the original of this, and there was a massive stain on it and a large number of sketches from when the hurricanes tore through here, so I'll have to either trace it onto a new paper or just do an actual drawing, something I've been putting off because I'm crushed with the final draft of this fantasy novel I'm working on.

Definitely! I've been looking through the old stack, taking out what didn't work, and revamping what did. I did a lot of these while listening to biology lectures or watching Attenborough documentaries.
