If you've been reading the Legacy of the Force book series then you'll know that Luke and Mara's son, Ben is fast becoming a very powerful Jedi.

Ben was born shortly after the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy and began carving their bloody swath through the known systems. He came into the Force during the height of the bloody war and, as a result, he withdrew from the Force and the anguish that began flooding the eb and flow of its all-comsuming currents. Five years after the war's end, Ben's cousin, Jacen Solo, back from a five-year sojourn into the galaxy and its many different schools of Force techniques is intrigued by Ben and takes him on as an unofficial apprentace; neither is sure where it will lead or how long it will last, but they are comfortable together and feel a connection.

Another five years later and Ben has grown into his powers. He's an energetic fourteen-year-old boy who is doing his best to find his own way in the Jedi Order. With the help of his master, Jacen, Ben struggles to pull himself away from his father's shadow and the legacy that comes with it. However, there is something happening and a dark pall has fallen over the galaxy in the form of Corellia's insistance of independance; a violent seperation which threatens to throw the galaxy into another civil war.

Filled with a new sense of dread and confusion, Ben looks to his uncle and master for guidance and support in these trying times. However, there is something changing in Jacen that scares Ben. Something dark moves beneath the surface that Ben can sense but can't put a face to. Jacen is doing things in a fashion that reminds those around him of the days of their grandfather, Anakin Skywalker and his fall from grace.

But, is Jacen wrong? He's not evil. He hasn't murdered anyone or begun a quest for dominance over the galaxy. He simply seeks balace for the chaos that has plagued the lives of their family--and the rest of the galaxy--for far too many years. For now, Ben will stand by his master. For now, he will believe in his cousin.

Okay, first, I should point out that, in Bloodlines Ben has started wearing the traditional padawan learner's braid and, as such, I decided to draw him with it here. Second, the background is, again, a screen cap from Galaxies (Mustafar Mining Outpost, to be exact).

Now, I did a few things with this pic different from the last two. The first, most obvious, would have to be the widescreen format. As I was resizing it, I felt that a widescreen format would be fitting as it helps make it a bit more dramatic and, if you ask me, gives the whole image a bit more energy. Second thing I did differently was casting light on Ben's saber hand and his right leg as well as the floor. The pic of Ganner had lighting on the floor under the saber but not on Ganner himself (as pointed out by and in their infinate wisdom, lol) so I decided that I'd give it a shot. I don't think it turned out so bad. I'm still learning with lighting and shadows so it'll be a growing improvement, but I think it helps add depth to the pic, puts the character into the background as well as adds realism to he blade (coming from a guy who bitches constantly about the sabers in the movies having shadows...it's a sword made of light people!). I also added my signature to the bottom.

Anyway, I really like how this turned out! I hope to get the flood of critiques I've been getting for these. Oh, and don't gimme too much crap for the pose. I was experimenting.

Anywho, on to the (c)'s and all that.
