I live in Sedro-Woolley, and I drive past the fields full of them everyday during that season. Man! I thought they were swans.

The big flocks are snow geese, although there are a lot of swans migrating through at the same time. I have a photo of some in my gallery from the same day as this.

Thanks, I used autofocus. The D300 has great autofocus, and when combined with the focus on the 300 2.8, i was able to get really consistant results.
