Description
The Geoffroy's spider monkey is an endangered species that lives in areas throughout Central America. I believe this is of the ornate spider monkey subspecies (Ateles geoffroyi ssp. ornatus). I hadn't seen a single monkey in Costa Rica until my last full day, when I was lucky enough to be able to observe a group of these guys in the jungles just outside of Rincon de la Vieja National Park. True acrobats of the forest, I was in awe as I watched them swing through the trees with their long, lanky limbs and prehensile tails. It's not often one gets to observe an endangered species in their natural habitat; this was an experience I'll never forget!Ornate spider monkey - Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Now that is awesome. I never see photos of monkeys outside of zoo's. This is a nice break from that, plus monkeys are awesome. What a wonderful experience it must have been especially considering the species.

I'd love to photograph wild monkeys and even silverback gorillas sometime in my life.
