Description Pandora and the Tree of Knowledge is an oil on canvas and is 30”x 40”. The story behind the painting is a combination of the Greek myth of Pandora and Eve from the Bible. Both women were the first woman on Earth and they both did something bad, Eve eating the forbidden apple and Pandora opening the box and releasing all the evils of the world. To represent Eve I added the apple tree and the snake. The jar is there because in the original story Pandora didn’t open a box, it was a jar. It was changed to a box when it was translated to Latin in the 16th century. I didn’t want her dressed in old Greek clothes, because I wanted her to be more modern.

Yeah, it's a combination of the Pandora myth and Eve from the Bible. They have a lot of similarities in their stories. So she could be Pandora or Eve.

This is fantastic. You did such an awesome job keeping it so realistic but inserting that realer than real feel. The softness of the Pandora's outline along with the intricacies of the tree of knowledge in the background make it seem almost heavenly. Such a great work.
