I made this because I am thoroughly disgusted with what rock music has become. it's like once we hit the new millenium, music died. how the hell can this hunk of musical failure be considered Rock? it's amazing how a genre of music can change so drastically in 40 years.people like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and The Beatles would be ashamed of what rock music has become.
isn't rock music supposed to actually MEAN something? so much popular music is all abut the same shit. partying and having a good time, singing shallow songs about girls/boys and all that shit. I have nothing against party music or breakup songs, but life isnt always one big party.
in fact, most of the time life is a pain in the ass. and now you have to listen to the hardcore rock and punk music to hear songs that are actually about something. if you want to listen to some REAL music, listen to artists like My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Hollywood Undead, System of a Down, Within Temptation, Linkin Park, and Sandi Thom.
their lyrics still mean something.
or you can always listen to the classics from the 60's and 70's.

i don't think these guys, even if they say it themselves, can ever really be considered to be rock artists. I don't what America thinks rock is but us Brits havent lost our sights just yet. the beatles, the clash, the sex pistols have left us a legacy of artists like the kooks, arctic monkeys, klaxons, kasabian, snow patrol and even more modern indy rock like two door cinema club and friendly fires still havent desecrated the holy tomb of rock. i hate disney type things and channels and actors because they are all teh same and very very very bad at what they do. i foudn it funny for example, when i watching a video about potential casting for death note the hollywood's live action version that there were two options, either have the slighty unknown but big potential, or choose the disney actor. we all know that if there is a single disney actor in death note it won't be taken seriously and will be closer to a pantomime than one of the most important pieces of fiction to come from the manga industry and japan.
so i don't agree that rock has lost it's way, but i agree that there are some big percentages of many industries taken up by talentless adults who only attract demographics with an IQ less than 90, or around the age or 12...

I just pray that if there really is a god in heaven, that kids bop or some other teenie bopper or whatever doesnt hack up Janis Joplin songs too! if they did, the it would be Jimi Hendrix, the greateful dead, etc. and befor you know it, all the good music will be ruined!

If your interested, I'm actually writing a script about that now called "The Musicopalspe". It doesn't have Joplin in it, but it's mostly about the Who and the Beatles trying to stop the world from ending. The Disney teenyboppers are the main villians. Hendrix will have a later apperance, though.:>

man i totally agree with you. What ever happened to singers writing songs because their hearts were broken, and because they wanted to get a message accross. And now we have loosers like Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers writing songs to make money!

LOL. While I don't agree with this, as none of it is real hardcore rock or real punk, I do agree that music today sucks terribly, and these assholes pictured are probably at the forefront of the issue at hand.

i think the generation after mine is ruining it cuz they just dnt understand the true meaning of rock. Rap is spiralling dwn the same way rock is. Naked Brothers Band, Jonas Bros, Miley Cyrus, etc ARE NOT ROCK. Not even music.
They also ruined reality tv. When they make shows that are supposed to portray true teen life in school or whatever, these jokes try to twist it and make the character a singer or a star or sumthing that isnt "true teen life". Im pretty sure most teens go to school, have a crappy day, come home on a crowded annoying bus, get pissed off at their families for not understanding and assuming, then go to bed hoping without much expectancy that tomoro will be better.
and just to throw it out there: that generation ruined the whole concept of "dark", "vampire", and "random"

hardly anyone understands what music is supposed to mean. you have to go to the hard rock, punk, and metal scene just to get halfway decent rock-ish music.
have you heard of Sandi Thom? her music reminds mw of the oldschool stuff from the 60's and 70's. if you havent heard her, I recomend the songs "i wish i was a punk rocker" and "the last picturehouse"

No the worst part of Jonas brothers is that they obviously stole pieces of their mom's hairstyle and glued it to their heads. sorry about the half comment above my finger slipped on the enter key. anyway I just re-watched the south park episode parodying them last night,and I realized how much Disney and music and general has fallen. I mean all Disney is these days is live action shows with pop stars who haven't acted a day in their lives. seriously what happen to the animated genius we grew up with that gave us all these wonderful songs we still can't get out of our heads to this day?. not to mention the Jonas bastards butchering "Poor Unfortunate Souls", one of the best Disney villain songs ever.honestly the only that that still seems to have the original Disney spirit is Kingdom Hearts, and while an awesome game is kind of sad when you think about it. As for music it's self everything these days is just pathetic. Every single song is either about your girlfriend leaving you(Rock),everything being your boyfriends fault and how you don't need him in the first place(R&B), or how life is one big club party and you should beat people over the head with how rich and successful you are(Rap). honestly that's why I stick to the 70'sand 80's for my rock, Lupe Fiasco for my Rap and Orchestrated Game remixes and Broadway musicals for everything else.
