Description This is an illustration of a megalopolis on the abandoned Kin home world, Black Heart, for my yaoi novel, The Abyss, to be posted on my website [link] . This beautiful piece of art was created by the wonderful Blinck

Here is a summary of the book:

In approximately the year 5027, an alien race known as the Kin arrives on Earth. Their massive spaceships filled Earth's skies like worldwide thunderclouds. The Kin look human except they are bigger, stronger, faster and never seem to age. Oh, and sunlight? It burns them to ashes.

The Kin came with an offer. They would share their advanced technology with the Earthian High Command in exchange for one simple thing: human blood. They feed on it. When it became clear that the Kin could merely take what they wanted from the humans with or without human consent, the choice to aid them was unsurprisingly unanimous.

But more than a little mystery surround these alien beings. For the Kin have lost the memories of their past. Some hideous accident caused them to forget everything before 10,000 years ago. While 10,000 years sounds like a long time, there is evidence that the Kin have existed for millions of years.

Many of the Kin's abandoned and forgotten home worlds litter the universe. Empty of people and yet still intact. The incredible technology that powers the empty megalopolises waits to be harvested. The Kin go on Ruin Jumping expeditions to these long lost home worlds to recover tech.

But one lost home world has haunted the Kin for as long as their memories span: Radeth et'Ghul al Shere or translated into English, Black Heart of the Universe. Black Heart is the oldest of the Kin abandoned home worlds and potentially holds the secret to why the Kin lost their memories. In a twist of fate, Black Heart's long-forgotten location is discovered. The Kin propose to do a joint Ruin Jumping expedition to this fabled planet with the humans.

Lt. Anarion Gray, a human Ruin Jumper, is assigned to The Abyss, a dreadnought-class flagship under its reclusive and mysterious Kin Commander, Lord Abaddon. Their mission is to retrieve tech from Black Heart.

Lord Abaddon has long haunted Anarion's imagination. To Ruin Jump beside him and to explore the legendary Black Heart seems like a dream come true to the young lieutenant. But he discovers that the Earthian High Command agreed to pay a much greater price than precious human blood for access to Black Heart's amazing tech.

And Anarion is going to find out, personally, exactly what that price is.

Not yet for the public. There's a new animation being made with a version of Anarion, but the painting that has been done is just for the animation. But more will be forthcoming. People haven't done fan art of them yet, but I'm ever hopeful. And I've got Mathia working on too much stuff yet to turn attention back to it. Why? What are you thinking?

Glad you're reading and hopefully you're enjoying the nove!

I very much am enjoying it so far! I was just thinking itd be greatly more useful if someone made some fan art for it. Of course I have a visual of the characters in my mind, but still, a drawing would be nice (:

There's been a some fan art for The Erl-King and some of the other stories, but none for The Abyss yet. If you're inclined ... I'd love it!

Immortal space vampires suffering from millennia-long amnesia helping the Humanity reach the Next Level of Understanding the Universe?

Well, wildest sometimes the wildest ideas turn out to be good - at the very least, it sounds very interesting and original.

Nice futuristic cityscape, too.

Thanks!

It gets even weirder and wilder! But it hopefully people will think it works as well. Wanted to do a vampire fic but make it entirely my own and different. I think I succeeded there cause I doubt that anyone else is going to go there. Lol!

Thanks so much for the comment and fav. And of course I hope you come check out the site when its up in a few weeks.

Oh, excellent! I was just reading your comic, Pandora, and it was a lot of fun (probably not the right word, but since I'm a Lovecraft fanatic I find weird things fun). It reminded me of Event Horizon, which had moments of true Lovecraftian horror.

I'll be announcing in my journal when the site is (finally) up.

Thanks again!
