Description
Melusine is the "eldest" of a set of half-faerie triplets. Her mother, Pressyne, married a king of Scotland on the condition that he never be in the room with her when she gave birth or bathed her children. He violated that covenant and she left and took the girls with her to Avalon. When she turned fifteen, Melusine asked about her father and why they were in Avalon and upon finding out, she and her sisters set out for revenge. They found their father and locked him up along with his riches inside a mountain. When Pressyne found out about it, she punished her daughters with a curse. The details of which regarding Melusine were that she would turn into a twin-tailed serpent from the waist down every Saturday.
Melusine eventually married a human just as her mother did, but her covenant to him was that he never enter her chamber on a Saturday. When he inevitably did and saw her nagini form, she forgave him. But once when he called her "serpent" in front of his court in anger, she turned into a dragon and left him.
