Entire Realm of Synai project is up in chronological order:Intro Animation | Gameplay Pt 1 | Gameplay Pt 2 | Outro animation

So here it is, the intro animation I made for Realm of Synai. This is a dream Kay is having, which tells him that something horrible is about to happen to the Elements, and that he soon needs to leave his hometown and go after the bad guy, Blake.
I had about 5 weeks to complete it, as I also had to make an outro animation. Everything you see was made by me, and I used a variety of animation techniques to get this result, including frame by frame animation at some parts *dies*
All that remains for me to say is; sit back, relax and I do hope you guys like it! Lemme know what you think (:

Was that cutout animation done in after effects? Because that would explain the only reason for those very static movements.

what software did you use for the animation?

I used Photoshop to draw everything in and After Effects to edit and animate the whole thing

so did you animate by redrawing every frame, or did you find some way to merely edit the existing previous frame?

I used several techniques to animate, the most used one is creating each body part (upper arm, lower arm, torso etc.), make sure that they attack to each other and more the parts. Some bits were drawn frame by frame, though.
