This is the under painting For my third redo of the classic painting of Michael the archangel. I love the image, and have now drawn it in pencil for tattoos twice. This one's for me.I'm really torn between leaving it like this or painting in a ton of color. This is the first time I've used a mixed black as an under painting (Alex Ross does it and I hope to one day possess his body and have nobody notice...so you can see the importance of learning his techniques), and it just makes the painting seem finished as opposed to a tint of the sketch you put on the paper.
