History: The story of Hungry Umoling dates back to the fairy tale about the boy who could use his magic paintbrush to bring drawings to life. The painter Ma Liang used his brush kindly, drawing new landscape and animals to make the lives of others easier, but there were times when he made mistakes. In his younger days, he used the brush more boldly and created fantastic beasts to inhabit the forests around their village, even creating a Kirin to bless them; but when he created a strange monster he grew nervous, fearing that it would cause trouble if he brought it to life, and so he left this drawing incomplete on the wall of a dark cellar.
Many years passed and it remained incomplete, until a group of children ventured in on a dare, and one tried to wipe off his dirty hands on the wall and accidentally completed the painting. When it came to life, the children were frightened, but it was so sweet and innocent that they could not fear the little creature for long, and laughed at its appetite. They named it Hungry because it seemed to never get full, no matter how much it consumed. But this amusement soon turned to concern as the creature continued to eat and eat with no signs of stopping, though it showed no interest in the living chicken and cattle. It ate all the food in the fields, and all the food in the stores, and all the food in the homes, until they were faced with famine by its appetite. The children begged Hungry to go away so that he would not starve them to death, and the little creature obeyed them, never once understanding the harm it did. Hungry left the village and ate all the food it found along the way, until soldiers were called to chase into the sea, where Hungry was pulled under by the weight of its stomach.
All thought that it had drowned, and the story became just another strange chapter in the history of the Magic Paintbrush, until Hungry Umoling rose from the waves one dark night, larger and hungrier than anyone could have dreamed possible. It seemed that Hungry was not a monster that could drown, and so it had instead feasted on all the food the ocean had to offer, growing bigger over the years as it roamed deep beneath the seas, until it had discovered the wreckage of ships and begun eating them as well. This might have continued forever, with no one on the surface ever discovering he was there, but Hungry came upon a strange object that seemed to poison the ocean around it. Once Hungry had consumed it, the misplaced nuclear bomb had been digested by his magical stomach and filled him with its limitless energy, and for the first time in his life, Hungry had felt sated.
His appetite turned towards weapons of war that had been lost beneath the waves, and he hunted down all that he could find in an effort to achieve that satisfaction once again. But nuclear weapons were not easily found, and Hungry grew frustrated until his slow mind arrived at the possibility of finding the delicious things on the surface, a place he had not thought about in centuries. Hungry turned his attention back to the land he had fled so long ago, and began his search for his favored food anew.
Abilities:
1. Immense weight: Hungry Umoling's limitless appetite and magic digestive system have turned literal tons of steal and detritus into bulk that can can endure almost any assault. Though this means he has to avoid bridges and soft areas like swamps, and can be slowed down or detoured if one can make the terrain look like it might not support him.
2. Glutton of War: Due to having eaten many war machines in his search for nuclear food, Hungry Umoling can devour almost any tank, plane, jeep or bomb that the military tries to use against him. For whatever reason, however, he can not or will not eat anything that is alive, and will actually digest an entire plane only to spit out the living pilot when he's done.
3. Homing Sense: Though it seems as though he hunts by smell, Hungry Umoling can detect things that no nose could possibly uncover, and it is theorized that he is actually sensing the latent radioactive energy of his targets. Meaning that Hungry Umoling is a relentless predator who will always know where his target is located.

I hadn't read this before now, and had no idea you had come up with such an ingenious background for this critter. This is very, very intriguing. A Guilmon-monster who eats weapons, drawn with a magic paintbrush? That's my kind of kaiju!
I'm pleased that the artist added his hazard symbol in the background; it enhances the image and makes it seem more complete, like a comic promo.
He still looks scary, but the story tempers that a lot. I like that he spits out people he accidentally noms

When I heard the Chinese fairy tale of the magic paintbrush and the drawings that came to life, I immediately thought of Takato creating Guilmon.
I just had to work that into one of the pics, and this seemed the perfect place.
Thank you!
Yes! I wanted a nice(ish) Kaiju like Gamera or Mothra. He isn't an ally, but he's not out to hurt anyone.
