Life at Camp Half-Blood was much different.
It had been about a month since you moved in, and you still haven't gotten used to everything.
Every morning, you would be trampled by the other kids in Cabin 11 - the cabin where all the kids go who are unclaimed.
It had taken you a while to get used to the thought that you weren't completely human, and that the Greek Gods are real. Heck, you didn't even know a lot about them.
Everything was all so confusing, and you just wanted to go home.
As much as you didn't like her, you wanted your mom back.
Grover (who you found out was a satyr and not a goat,) explained what had happened with your teacher and your mother. It was.. heart breaking, to say the least, knowing that she had died so simply. It wasn't even her fault. It was yours.
And yet, here you were, still alive.
"Come on, newbie! Get up!" A voice said as you felt a hard kick to your rib.
You winced in pain and groaned, curling up tighter into the ball you had already formed. All the beds in the small, overcrowded cabin had already been taken, and you were positioned on the floor. You had already learned not to argue when told to get up, earning another groan as you pulled yourself into a sitting position.
Kids were everywhere - all who were unclaimed came here, and that was a lot of kids.
You yawned and stretched your arms into the air, scratching your head as you stood up. Your back ached from sleeping on the floor, and one of the Hermes kids had managed to steal your pillow, so you also had a splitting headache.
What a great way to start the morning off!
With your plate of food, you walked over to the fire and looked up at the sky briefly. A offering to the gods, they said. Which god would you even give an offering to?
You knew nothing of any of the gods, and the only ones you really knew were the overused cliche ones - the tall man with seaweed as a beard - Poseidon. The guy with storms as hair - Zeus. And the guy who smelled like death - Hades.
Water never really was your thing, and you have had enough of death recently..
With a small sigh, you scraped off a portion of your meal into the fire, offering it to Zeus.
You walked through the rows of tables, scanning around for one that was empty. You didn't really know anyone here, since you mainly kept to yourself. You noticed that a few tables away, there was one free, and your eyes lit up. Quickening your pace, you wanted to get away from the sickening glares you were getting from other tables.
One table in particular did not like you.
The kids at the Aphrodite table had been giving you the worst looks.
As you passed by, you hardly even noticed the leg that had somehow extended into your path. You fell forward, letting out a small shriek as you face planted into your plate of syrup and pancakes. Your face was now covered in the syrup, and bits of pancake were in your hair.
The people around you laughed, the Aphrodite kids loudest.
"Jeez, didn't know you liked pancakes that much, Syrup Girl!"
You were excused from eating and went back to your cabin, washing up and trying to forget that the whole dispute had happened. Your mother always told you to keep your cool, and don't let your anger show, as it just makes things worse.
After breakfast, Chiron announced to everyone that at high noon, a game of capture the flag would start in the woods. Everyone was super excited, rushing off to get their swords ready, and armor all perfectly shined. Capture the flag was a big deal here.
The Aphrodite kids all giggled to themselves as they ran off, ready to make their hair perfect and their makeup on point. Gotta look good while fighting!
You were confused as to why such a simple game was so important here, but when you were handed a sword, it felt.. good. Almost like you were made to wield it.
The game started, and your cabin split into three different groups; the first was to head off to the right, the second to the left. As the people from the other teams went forward in one group, the Hermes kids would use their sneaking skills to rush past, and get the flag.
The third group, which you were placed in, was the people who were supposed to guard the flag.
Key word, 'supposed'.
After the two groups were out of sight, the three others who were standing beside you all suddenly had wild grins on their faces. They were practically bouncing out of their armor from excitement, eyes flickering around the woods at everything. They wanted to go, and then within a second, off they went.
"Wh- wait!" You shouted, but they were gone.
You growled under your breath and sighed heavily. Protecting one flag wouldn't be that hard, right? You could handle it.
Standing a few feet away, another camper was silently watching and waiting for his chance. He had seen you around the camp before, and happened to be the one who brought you there.
Perseus Jackson himself, son of Poseidon.
He was eyeing you carefully, watching as your hands grazed over the sheathed sword at your hip.
What was your plan?
Did you know he was there, and were just playing it off to trick him?
No, that couldn't be it.
Your eyes had wandered across the forest and over to the strawberry fields. Satyrs were gathered with their pipes in hand, and you could faintly hear the beautiful music as it worked it's magic. The strawberries' smell seemed to become a hundred times stronger, the berries themselves becoming larger and almost tastier looking.
You sighed lightly at the sight, longing to be over there.
Something seemed to move out of the corner of your eye, and you flinched. You quickly grabbed your sword and spun around, only to find yourself face to face with Seaweed Brain himself.
He looked as if he was about to grab the flag while you were in your day dream. When you turned he jumped back, a small grin appearing on his face.
"Woah there tiger."
You eyed him suspiciously and raised your sword. Percy did the same, the same golden sword you had seen before shimmering in the sunlight.
Something inside of Percy just clicked. You had pissed him off before, and though it was a while ago, that still stayed with him. He wanted to have his- well, almost revenge.
"Find any pancakes over there, Syrup Girl?" He asked mockingly.
You narrowed your eyes and gripped your sword harder. "Shut up."
"Why? Are you gonna throw food at me?"
"I said, shut up."
You were pissed before, but now more than ever. He was mocking you, just because of some dumb trick that others had played on you. You swung your sword to the left, and Percy easily dodged.
"Come on, you can do better than that."
A growl escaped your throat as you jumped forward, swiping your sword at him once again.
"Missed me."
This went on for a few more swings. You would attack, and he would dodge backwards, leading you deeper and deeper into the woods. A stream was just a few feet away. If you did end up hitting him, he would be able to recover quickly. Your attacks were getting quicker and quicker as he continued to tease you, and at one point he was having trouble keeping up with you.
"Keep trying, Syrup Girl."
Above the camp, grey storm clouds had started to form. Percy hadn't even noticed them until he had heard the rumble of thunder in the far distance, which was enough to pull his attention to the sky.
"Wh-What the.." He stuttered, watching the sky with confusion. No storms were supposed to break past the borders.
You hadn't taken notice of the storm at all, and were just focused on hitting him. You swung your sword quickly to the left, and Percy only had time to jump back before getting sliced.
The boy landed with a hard thud into the stream. You watched as he stood up, looking more lively than before, and grabbed his sword.
He didn't know what was happening with the sky, but Chiron would be calling the game off any minute.
You were just watching him, waiting for him to make a move instead of you.
"Aw, is that all you've got in you? I thought better of you."
That was it.
You snapped.
One thing you hated, was being looked down on.
Letting someone's standards of you down.
A loud crash of thunder in the distance, which seemed much closer now, echoed around the two of you, making Percy jump. It started to rain, slow at first, before suddenly becoming a downpour.
You gripped your sword hard as a wave of electricity seemed to run through your veins. You weren't sure what had happened, but you remembered Percy's shocked face for a split second, before he was suddenly blasted across the stream and into a tree.
He cried out, clenching his eyes and jaw tight. Damn, that hurt.
Luckily, he was wearing armor, or else it would have been much worse.
You looked down, and was shocked to see what looked like.. lightning, only for a few brief seconds around your hand.
A normal person would have been electrified, but you felt almost more powerful by it. Percy coughed harshly and stood up on shaky legs, opening his eyes to stare at you in shock.
You felt just as shocked as he was.
What the hell just happened?

Absolutely LOOVVVEEEE this story. Btw, you did a fantastic job describing life at the Hermes cabin. Most people describe it truelly awfully and unrealistic to the books.

Wow, thank you! I tried my best- but yeah, I found some people didn't even give a crap if they described it properly.
