Description
The original submission of this freehand pencil drawing drawn during the early 90's was lost during the crash of the Escher server several months back.I took the opportunity to do some touching up of the original image using my Intuos tablet- adding some details to certain portions of the hair while removing other portions and darkening key shadows.
I also cleaned up the resolution a bit from the original scan so that this piece could be offered through DAPrints.

What great drawings you have, I especially like this one. Boy if I could choose to do anything I wanted really well it'd be to be able to draw!

Very nice classic approach to it. I like graphite drawing because it serves as the "backbone" to all my work. I really like your emphasis on lighting and your sense on contrast. great piece.

The shading of this is wonderful. The angle that you drew from is a tough angle to pull off well which you did Your other portrait pieces are also really nice

This is really good I must say. I'm impressed with how your proportions worked out for this picture. I have a lot of difficulty with the angles of the head like that. The contours of her face or well done as well. I love how soft the hair is against the skin, but bold enough to stick out of the white background. This is a lovely picture over all.

The style and texture to the piece is impressive. The hair is what really shines in this work. Very nice.

Wow. That's a stunning piece of art. You really managed to get the whole figure to act as one - it's so relaxing to look at. A sure sign all the elements are arranged well.
Everything looks great - the tightness of the skin, the weight of the hair, the solidity of the bone structure. Great job, man.
One thing I would say, though is that maybe the top left area of lip (her left) is slightly too full. I'm not sure. To be honest, when I see a piece that's this good, I tend to find myself trying to spot inconsistenties.
Really great work, though.
Do you think you'll ever go back to this tecnique after so long on the wacom?

This would indeed make a great print. This a terribly hard angle to draw of the face..(at least for me it is) Very sensual looking..I'd probably buy this print if I was not broke..it'd look good in my future apartment.

Stunning line work and shading, though I think the form of the woman is a little off.
It could just be one of those cases where realism doesnt quite look real, but her nose and mouth seem to point at an odd angle, sort of as if they are being pushed by an invisible finger.
The eyebrows in my opinion are also a little far apart. Maybe thats the way she was, but I think a bit of artistic license would have been good there
Finally on the negatives I think the hairline looks a little sharp. Almost like her face is a mask above the hairline. These crits are pretty nit picky, but the details are obviously important when representing organic forms realistically.
On the + side, the shading is fantastic. Especially around her throat, I feel as though I could touch it. Like the leapord, it does seem to actually be supporting the weight of her head.
The colar bones are also done perfectly. I have seen many hand drawings where everything else is excellent, but the colar bones are way to sharp. This image doesn't have those problems.
Finally the general gradients of shade across her face are good, though in some spots are a bit uneven and seem to imply shadows that shouldnt be there.
Under her mouth for example, on our left, the way the shading is built seems almost like dirt on her face. I think if it were a little more smudged / smooted itd be perfect.
Most impressive Reality.

the shading is absolutely great, strong and confident. it gives the volumes a very photo-realistic feel. the hair is what I love the most here, it flows with such naturalism and elegance... very cool.

Did you use a reference? Regardless, what an amazing pose.

Great detail, interesting angle, wonderful lines. This is a stunning image.
The large ammount of whitespace at the bottom makes the image look unfinished, as if you hadn't gotten around to drawing the rest. Perhaps this is the intended effect?
