Description Well, Nothing really new here.

This is just a slightly retouched and cleaned up submission of my original Leopard from late last year.

I made a few alterations to the neck and shoulder area, the eye and also darkened up the shadows around the mouth and teeth in preparation for submitting this to DAPrints.

Comments and Suggestions are always welcomed.

Okay, I'll say it to you guys.

Anyone thinking this is this , yes, but before calling this one the stolen pic check the dates. R^2 has had his up since 2002, the other has been up since 2008.

If you can post an earlier version of the same thing by all means correct me.

Um....this isn't a leopard. This is a jaguar. Are you familiar at all with their markings?

Dark-Hyena [2012-05-17 22:51:51 +0000 UTC]

I think you may have used a jaguar as a reference. It's head's way too boxy to be a leopard's. Otherwise, good picture! Just needs retitling.

If you don't like it, don't comment and I know you do anyway um, anyway... I think it looks awesome, I haven't looked at the other one, but I bet this looks better well, if this was in 2002, I wonder how you're doing now. I guess I'll just have to look

KV-Arts [2008-06-03 19:43:53 +0000 UTC]

beautiful! I love how the whites in the muzzle disappear into the background. It's always tempting to stick a line or tone in there.

realitysquared In reply to KV-Arts [2008-06-04 13:03:17 +0000 UTC]

The key to using negative space correctly and to getting the presentation just right is to avoid that urge to draw in that line or provide some sort of border. I don't think this piece would give quite the same impression if the similar shades weren't allowed to combined and blend seamlessly into each other like they do.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KV-Arts In reply to realitysquared [2008-06-05 05:15:16 +0000 UTC]

absolutely. it would seem more cut-out or focus only on the subject rather than a creature in an actually environment (no matter how little information is giving to a kind of environment).

wynter [2008-05-13 02:28:09 +0000 UTC]

This is looking pretty fabulous.... especially the whiskers. The whole face is really well done, and very expressive. I love leopards, and it's diffifult to draw them well, so I really appreacite this! The only thing I would suggest would be to darken the spots and shadows on the shoulder to make them the same shades used in the face.

Nice work!

realitysquared In reply to Chantari [2008-02-22 11:54:10 +0000 UTC]

That particular sepia tone is a side effect of the original being scanned; for some odd reason the process added the yellow and I liked it enough to leave it in there.

Wow, this is stunning. I really love the way you've chosen to do this in a sepia sort of tone. Your detail on the fur and whiskers is amazing and the lighting on the chin and the shadows on the neck are just perfection.

realitysquared In reply to WrenStormbringer [2007-08-21 23:57:48 +0000 UTC]

Thank you

Would you believe that the particular sepia tone on the work was actually an accidental byproduct of the scanning process? The original completely lacks it and it wasn't added deliberately.
