With Dustpelt, although he’s described as a ‘dark tabby’ I wanted to make him visually different from his earlier allies in the books, Tigerclaw and Darkstripe, who are both dark brown with black stripes. So I decided that '‘dark'’ could just as easily refer to his stripes as his base colour and made him brown. I'm thinking I should make his stripes even darker, though.

He's hard to dislike, although he's not my favourite character, far too sharp-tounged without much too wit in my eyes. He's one of the most popular Thunderclan mentors, having so far mentored Ashfur, Sorreltail, Squirrelflight and Hazeltail - As well as fathering three litters with his mate Ferncloud! You can't say he's not a busy boy
