Description
My first 3D project.Rendered entirely in blender (http:/www.blender.org), the open-source 3d modeller.
I've now re-rendered this model, with ray-mirroring instead of rampshading [link]

I like this version better, because of the brighter colors and the double shadow. Was this a school project, or did you do it on your own time?

Oh, I'm doing all of this in my spare time.

Thank you!
They do render much faster... but I think this model looks a lot better with ray-mirroring instead.

Well, they are very different effects. A bit of ramps and toon shading would be awesome, while ray-tracing is for the realism.

Do you have any tips for achieving that toon effect? Is it a setting somewhere for the blender internal engine?
...I'm just over a week into blender, so tips from the more experienced folks would be great.

Of course, when you get better, you should play with node materials, for really awesome toon shading (better than normal materials can ever achieve! Link: [link] )

Great first go, and an excellent choice of subject.
