Description
Private Commission - the buyer was very fond of "Cherry-picking Mice" so we designed it to be very similar to that painting. It's meant to be the first of four seasonal paintings, but I won't get to finish the rest until next year due to other commitments...6.5 x 8.5" - Acrylic on watercolor paper

How much time do you take to finish one of those paintings?

I am very slow - it usually takes a minimum of three solid days (just painting, not counting drawing) and up to a week and a half depending on complexity.
Thank you for the s!

Obviously not real squirrels. They're sitting still

So beautiful and so lively. The cherries look red and delisious and they look that they are having fun. I like the soft colours in the background.

Awesome work as usual~ ^_^
I was about to ask, "Do squirrels eat cherries?"
then it just passed through my mind: Squirrels mostly eat buts and berries.
:whacks self:
Senseless, yeah. Sorry about that y brain's not functioning well at the moment.

Maybe it's a rare specie(s) of a squirrel? *Gets whacked*

Or maybe they've been genetically altered and are a bit higher functioning than common squirrels - hence the clothing.

it looks good the colors are so smooth. My sister works with acrylic... I haven't played with it more than 10 times but its fun... I think that i will play with it a little today.

Wow.
Do you use a 'liquid' brand of acrylics? The paint looks so smooth and flat. The acrylics I used for a class were so thick that it drove me crazy when I tried to work with it.

Thanks! I use mostly Winsor & Newton Finity and some Liquitex Heavy Body (tube acrylic) - I just use it with a lot of water. I used to hate acrylic when I first tried it, but I got comfortable with it after a lot of practice. It's such a forgiving medium - I can make lots of mistakes and just paint right over them.

Ah, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for those brands and try to experiment when I get the chance to.

Even though it's on watercolor paper (which is mostly pretty rough) it looks soo smooth. You've done an excellent job. I especially like the highlights and shadows.
