I've had a scribble of this character in my sketchbook for a long time and finally got around to painting him. Pretty sure I was looking at Bridge-Troll's book around that time, so many thanks to him for the inspiration. If you haven't seen his work, go check it out - it's amazing:[link]
This character is the Tea Merchant - he's a wanderer, kind of like a minstrel. Only instead of songs, he peddles tea. For a small fee, he'll pour you a cup of the blend of your choice.
I tried to paint a little quicker than usual on this one. Trying to keep the paint thinner all over, although this didn't work out too well on the bird character himself.
Watercolor sky, acrylic everything else on watercolor paper

I don't know what is exactly is so appealing about this painting - the atmosphere, the style, the character... but I can definitely say one thing: that Tea Merchant is the kind of person(?) I would enjoy having an afternoon cup with

This artwork is great! I find the Tea Merchant very interesting. I love his expression. I get a warm feeling inside just looking at the perfectly coloring artwork, it's like a childhood-feeling or something like that.

oh wow, this is fantastic! I disagree about the the bird character not looking real, he looks great! Looking at stuff like this I realise I should scour dA pretty thoroughly before actually hiring someone to work on my book. Congratulations on the feature in the unknown artists newsletter! I'm sorry to say I don't do collabs - I am usually tied up with commercial work, so I generally don't have the time and when I do have the time, I have this long list of personal pieces that are waiting for my attention.
