I was pleased to be asked to revisit my old Turtlehouse character ([link] ) in a recent project. This painting accompanied a Langston Hughes poem in a children's magazine.It's displaying a bit higher contrast here, but I think the original turned out dimmer than I would have liked. Looking at it now, I wish I'd added some brighter highlights to the characters. Ah well, it was a fun one to work on.

Thank you! I think I just used white or maybe a very light grey, watered down quite a bit and just painted straight-ish lines with slightly rounded bottoms. Oh, and don't forget to paint in little splash dots where the rain is hitting surfaces. Does that help?

I had the original turtle house image in my favorites, and I have to add this one as well! I think the concept is adorable, and you put a cute twist on it that's different from your previous one. Helpful little mouse! ^^

For some reason, the turtle's head and neck remind me of Littlefoot.
