I planned to finish this meme some months ago but I couldn't make the new version look right. To be honest, I spent so many hours drawing and correcting the same parts that my eyes hurt now, seriously X______________X ;;;;.But back to the picture...
Improvement memes are very motivating and inspiring. I love looking at other people's entries. I decided to make a new version f my 'Bonds of Death' pic because I couldn't stand looking at this lame shading and clothes;;;; (not to mention lame skulls). Well, there's still a lot of things for me to learn and improve but I already started enjoying playing with light and colour. I need more practice of course. I just wish my bishies drawing skills improved faster :___:.

Of course, both your old and new ones look positively fabulous. I can see the improvements in the new one quite clearly. The composition, color, and perspective make it a much more dynamic, living piece. The way the wings embrace the figure (btw, your bishie drawing skills are wonderful) draws the viewer's eyes to your character's face naturally. The old picture has warmth and style, but your new image looks like a complete and polished work of art. The perspective on the chains gives the second picture depth, as well.
This may only be me looking too far into this, but the first picture seems to view death as a tragedy and seems to imply loss, imprisonment, and decay. The second picture, with its more conservative color palette, seems to view death as a businessβmore detached and cold.
Anyway, my silly ramblings are over. Suffice it to say that this looks wonderful.

The 2008 version looks as though everything would have a softer feel to it but everything looks more shiny and slick in the 2012 version.

Hmmm, although the new one looks very new and awesome, I like the older one, when I think of death and stuff I think of those colours and how rugged it looks, I especially liked how the skulls where crying and had chins attached to them, however in the newer one you can barely see the skulls, I think that there should be more dark greeny sort of colours and more morbid-ness to the new one, over all: More skulls, more morbid and less neat, apart from that awesome improvement ^-^

Technically, the new version is a lot better. It's cleaner, crisper and looks amazing. The colours are intense and vivid and the picture and composition is striking. However, I kinda like the old one more in some regards. While I can see how you have transferred a lot of the main elements, some of the smaller details got lost or changed in the new one, and I liked them. Its more like looking at two completely different pictures then an updated version of one. Don't get me wrong, this is definitely not a criticism. The new one is spectacular. I'm just saying old as it is, I still like the old one too.

I agree, the new one is much more crisp but the old one has so much more to it i think. There is so much style in it, your use of thick and thing lines. I also like all the different looking textures. There is more feeling in it. It's unique, the old one seems to mainstream while the original actually seems original.

I appreciate the comments like yours a lot. It gives me the chance to look at my drawings from a different perspective. Thank you so much for that : ). Recently, I feel the urge to improve my skills but I'm also afraid to lose something in my drawings, something that makes people enjoy it. I'm searching for any info about those small details you mentioned in your comment. I'm stuck and I really need to move forward with my new drawings. That's my resolution for 2013.

I like the placement of his arms/hands better in the original, but I love everything else about the newer one infinitely better (and I liked your art back then) One of the better examples of improvement I've seen. There is so much more depth and dimensionality in the new one. And the overall tone of the piece is stronger as well.

LOL bb you are always improving. Its one of the reasons I've watched you all of these years. When artists don't grow I tend to start ignoring them >> Ah that sounds terrible but ah well. Its always a pleasure to watch your art expanding and changing and shifting and improving. Obviously there are better proportions now as well and just anatomy in general but the depth was absolutely the thing I noticed the most.
