Description
I'm confused every time I submit something on deviantart since I 'm not sure if I choose a correct category#_#.Anyway, thic pic was made some time ago for Polish manga illustration book I talked about in my previous journal. Finally, it is officiallly published and it's available in Poland.
The character- Helios, is my OC and can be found here: [link]
I'm afraid I did something wrong with the anatomy again but I dunno.. I have no patience to this baka picture D:. I tried my best to draw a mature bishie. Aghhhh.... It was a big pain in ass.
Helios is a God of the Sun and an older brother of Selene (Mizuki). He is rather optimistic, very sociable and reliable. He loves alcohol (especially coconut and banana drinks xD) and one day he also discovers he likes.. ekhm.. boys xD. Poor Thanatos- he is Helios' first love and victim XDDD. As the spoiler I can tell you Helios will find his true luv- Eros, the God of Love who most of the time takes a form of one sweet red- headed shota XDDD.
I hope you'll like it. This is my first serious attempt with layer blocking and putting the patterns. Many thanks to Radittz for the tips
Media used:
mechanical pencil, Adobe Photoshop CS, my own and also Mayang textures
According to Wikipedia there are two versions of spelling his name: Helios or Elios (since the 'h' is not always articulated). I chose the second one since it was the only version in Japanese I found xD.
Helios (c) me
The characters and story were inspired by some Greek myths

If religion is the thesis and science is the antithesis, what is the synthesis?"By measuring the number and luminosity of observable galaxies in the known universe, astronomers put current estimates of the total stellar population at roughly seventy billion trillion."
- Maria Temming, How Many Stars Are There in the Universe?
Eustace: "In our world, a star is a huge ball of flaming gas."
Ramandu: "Even in your world, my son, that is not what a star is, but only what it is made of."
- C. S. Lewis, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, chapter XIV
"The sun? Conscious? How?" 'In a way lower organisms like you have difficulty to grasp. One thought from the source takes longer than a human life. A conversation with other stars takes thousands of your years.' "All the stars are conscious?" A dry laughter resounded. 'Of course. They are the original inhabitants of the cosmos. Without them there would be no organic life, let alone organic consciousness.'
- Elian Lazaro, Elysium
"The proposition is that Sun is a living, conscious being with an intelligence that dwarfs our own. I am not only suggesting that Sun is a large complex system with some form of self-governing intelligence to it, but also that it is a living being, aware of itself and its place in the universe; that it is fully conscious and communicates with other conscious beings at its own level, and other levels; that its consciousness is so far beyond what we enjoy that it could be accorded deity status of a high order, and be recognized as a conscious being by atheists and agnostics, whatever spin they put on it.
As staggering as this proposition might seem, it is hardly novel, and was once held as a near universal belief or understanding in most parts of the globe. It is possible that generations of Neolithic peoples, the ancient Sumerians, Chaldeans, and Assyrians, the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Maya, Inca, Aztec, and the ancient Celts and Native Americans were not completely deluded. Perhaps they were right to regard Sun as a living celestial being, rather than view the prime enabler of life-on-Earth as just another random event in the infinity of space, deserving neither credit nor appreciation. We can add the world's 750 million Hindus to the list above, as well as followers of Shinto, the native Japanese religion revering Sun goddess Amaterasu."
- Gregory Sams, Sun of gOd
"The sun alone appears, by virtue of his dignity and power, suited for the duty of moving the planets, and worthy to become the home of God himself."
- Johannes Kepler, The Harmony of the World
"Any sufficiently advanced extraterrestrial intelligence is indistinguishable from God."
- Michael Shermer's last law
"The Sun is God."
- Joseph Mallord William Turner

This morning in my Mythology lecture, my teacher used this piece as the example of Helios' appearance. I recognized your style then saw the credits under the picture and thought how cool that was! (So yes, he credited you fully.) Just thought that would be kinda a cool thing to tell you. (:

OMG!!! Really?!!! I'm speechless O___________________O. Wow! I would never expect something like that! It's so nice of your teacher to use my picture as an example. That's a honour for me :__;. I'm more than happy to hear that. Thank you so much for letting me know
P.S. I'm a teacher too .

I was previously unsure if you'd care but now I'm really glad I told you. It's a wonderful piece, I'm not surprised he used it. (:
And how cool! What a coincidence ^.^

That info made my day. It means someone likes my artwork and wants to share it with others. And when it's a teacher who shows it to his class as an example it's a double win . These are the best rewards an artist can wish for.

Helios isn't the titan of the Sun? Or he is the one before Apolo?

In Greek Mythology, one of the first was Hyperion, the Titan of light. He was brother to Kronos.
His son was Helios, the first god of the sun.
After him was Apollo, the most well know.
I like the drawing. He doesn't look to girly.

See, this is what happens when you give human history to stupid anime fans. Helios, God of the sun, rider of a great chariot across the sky, becomes a generic girly-man with flowing blond hair and a completely arbitrary and generic interest in boys. Give human history to these pathetic hacks and everything begins to revolve around these stupid generic characters. The characters are all the same; reflective of their creators. Here be the death of originality and the very name of art.

Douche bag, people like you ruin all the fun. Its HER story its BASED on mythology. It doesn't have to be exactly like canon mythology. Usada's story, Usada's rules, so you can go suck your dog's balls.

I don't know what that means. See, unlike people like you, I speak (and write, and type) in this thing known as English. It's a language composed of letters, you see. And ridiculous symbols made out of various punctuation have no meaning or worth to me.

Lovely, I hope you don't mind if I use this picture *?* ((Since it has your signature on it)) for teaching middle school children about Ancient Greek Astrology in the sun? I'm the president of their local astronomy club and the kids (classmates) will be learning about our main energy source and this is a perfect picture of Helios
