Tim was up late, again. He was working way too much to get the Poison Ivy and Clayface team up case out of the way. Granted, they both did need to be locked up, but (Y/N) just ready to go to bed. Walking over to where Red Robin was, she tapped his shoulder.
“Hm?” Tim said, not even glancing in her direction.
She was growing tired of doing this almost every night. Dick was always the one to put her on “Tim duty”, as he liked to call it. Sucking up enough confidence, and air, (Y/N) tried to tell Tim to go to bed. “Timmy, listen, you need to go to bed.” It came out more like a mumble than what she was hoping for.
He swiveled around to face her. Looking up at her with tired eyes, he tilted his head for her to repeat it. “I said… You need to go to bed…”
Tim nodded and turned around to face the computer again. He reached over to power it off for the rest of the night. Standing up, he watched as she waited for him over by the entrance to the cave.
Red Robin walked quickly to catch up with her. As they were walking through the kitchen, Tim’s eyelids felt heavy and he thought he could just pass out right then and there. He looked over at (Y/N) and she looked back at him. He watched as she opened and closed her mouth to say something.
“Tim, I want to know if--no--do you, uh, want to go out on patrol? With me?” She had asked this almost a thousand times before, but this time finally got the answer she had longed for.
Tim, still in a sleep deprived state, shook his head yes. He smiled at her and walked (Y/N) to her door. They said their goodnights and went to bed.
The next day was their patrol ‘date’ and (Y/N) was just about done sparing with Cassandra just as Tim walked into the cave. Both of them were already in uniform. (Y/N) waited for Tim get the news on a case that they were working on. Cassandra tapped (Y/N)’s shoulder and smiled, knowing how nervous she was. It was Cass’s way of telling her not to worry.
A few hours later that night, Tim and (Y/N) had found some dirt-like substance. Tim wanted to test the sample while (Y/N) wanted to go up to Tree Street’s tallest building. Red Robin decided to go with her, though he complained mentally about how the sample should have been the number one priority.
When they reached the top, (Y/N) sat down to look at the waves crashing into the bay below. Tim could understand why she loved it here so much, it was peaceful. It was nice to look down at the beautiful scenery. Tim would love to sit here all day and night.
Though he couldn’t. He had mentally fought him with himself about the sample and case. He wanted to sit down and relax with (Y/N), but he had decided otherwise. “(Y/N), listen, I’m sorry. I would love to stay here, but this sample needs to be the number one priority. I need to get this analyzed.”
(Y/N) shook her head. She knew he would do this. Turning to face him she said, “I understand, Tim.” She didn’t want to fight with him on this. Tim nodded and leaped of the building. (Y/N) watched, with tears forming in her eyes, as he aimed his grappling gun in the direction of the cave.

As Tim entered the bat cave, he saw Nightwing reading up on a case. Dick looked at Tim and smiled. He had heard about the ‘date’ Tim was on with (Y/N). A few moments later, Dick got off of the Bat computer.
Looking around for where (Y/N) might be, Dick asked Tim about his ‘date’. “So? How’d it go?”
“how did what go?” Tim responded, his eyes and focus never leaving the computer.
“Your date.”
“I didn’t have a date tonight.”
“Yes you did. It was with (Y/N).”
Tim looked up at Dick with a confused look. “We didn’t go on a ‘date’. We went on patrol.”
Dick looked down at Tim. “Where’s (Y/N) then?”
“She should still be at Tree Street, why?”
“Why did you leave her there?”
“I had to upload this sample and finish a case.” Tim listened as Nightwing tried yo explain the only reason they went on patrol together in the first place.
Dick was pissed that Tim would just leave (Y/N) alone. He first yelled at Tim for leaving (Y/N) and then he was telling Tim to go back and apologize to her. Realizing what he had done, Tim nodded and ran out of the cave to see (Y/N).

She was still sitting on the building when Tim came back. She was sitting there and crying. Tim mentally smacked himself and walked up to sit down next to her. He felt bad and he was upset with himself about leaving her in the first place.
Putting his arms around her, Tim pulled her into a hug. She sobbed into his chest as he apologized to her. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know. I thought you just wanted to hang out during patrol. I realize I was wrong.”
Hearing how she was calming down as he spoke, Tim kept going. “I didn’t know you liked me, in that sort… of way. I always thought that you wouldn’t feel the same way.”
She paused and so did Tim. He didn’t know what he was saying until after it he had said it. (Y/N) looked up at him. “What did you just day?” she said in a whisper like voice.
“Yeah, what did I just say?” Tim responded with wide eyes. He didn’t mean to let that one slip. Tim watched as (Y/N) was trying to processes what had just come out of Tim’s mouth. “I really, really like you.” He said.
(Y/N) smiled at Tim and kissed his cheek. “I really, really like you too.” She said louder than in her usual voice.
“Whoa, (Y/N), don’t yell.” Tim responded, causing (Y/N) to laugh at his remark.
