Maxwell “Max” Tennyson, during the 70s and 80s, was an agent of American government security agency CADMUS (The Council for the Administration and Deterrence of Metahumans in the United States). Max’s most defining mission for the agency was preventing an secret extraterrestrial insurgency spearheaded by Vilgax, a high general of the Daemonites of the planet Chimera Sui. Max met his future wife Verdona on another mission during his career, and they married soon after. Because of Max’s dedication to CADMUS, this resulted in marital complications between Max and Verdona, and they separated years later, with Max gaining custody of their sons, Carl and Frank, after Verdona seemingly disappeared. Max, who was a plumber as far as his sons were concerned, retired from CADMUS with distinction long before it secretly became a front for a terrorist sect called Algol. In their adult lives, Carl and Frank, respectively, married Sandra and Natalie and, in the year 2008, they had two children…
In the summer of 2018, in the forests of the U.S., Max was on a cross-country road trip with his grandchildren: Ben Tennyson (Frank and Sandra’s 10 year old son) and his cousin Gwen Tennyson (Carl and Natalie’s 10 year old daughter). One night, in the forests, a bizarre object crash-landed near the family’s RV. Ben investigated it by himself, and found a weird watch in the crater that forcibly bound itself to Ben’s left wrist. Experimenting with the watch, Ben, Gwen, and Grandpa Max discovered that it allows Ben to transform into one of ten inhuman forms with superhuman abilities, but only for a limited amount of time.
When Ben used one of the watch’s forms to save the campgrounds from a killer robot, which Max recognized as a dormant Daemonite combat drone, he revealed his true past as a CADMUS agent to Ben and Gwen. They went to the home of one Doctor Aloysius Animo, a scientist and former CADMUS employee, who had become reclusive after being fired by the now-defunct agency. At his home, Max met with Dr. Animo and explained the situation to him. Dr. Animo led the three to his basement laboratory, where Ben laid down on a table and had the doctor examine the watch. Animo discovered a self-regenerating mutagenic matrix that allows for the temporary mutations… and “something else”.

Just then, he typed in a code that forcibly strapped Ben to the table and launched two rapidly-inflating foam bullets that hardened around Gwen and Grandpa Max, trapping them. Animo’s unimpeded research into the watch allowed him to finalize a weapon he had devised, and he escaped with it. With his family trapped in the foam, Ben managed to free his arms and manipulate the watch’s dial into becoming “Fourarms”, a tall, muscular humanoid with superhuman strength, red skin, and four arms. He ripped apart the solidified foam to free his cousin and their grandfather. The doctor took off in his car and they followed after him with Fourarms doing gigantic leaps with Gwen and Grandpa Max following in their RV.

Dr. Animo had taken over a local museum by using his weapon to reanimate fossilized animals and a helmet to mentally control them. Fourarms was forced to change back into Ben and the three hid in the shadows, observing Animo’s actions and waiting for the watch to recharge. Animo and his mutant forces marched for city hall, and as soon as the watch was ready to change Ben again, he became a super-fast humanoid raptor he named “XLR8”. XLR8 defeated the mutant animals and stole the weapon and mind control helmet, the forced himself to change back into Ben. With five minutes left in a transformation (he already spent the first 5 as XLR8), Ben transformed into “Grey Matter”, a small but highly-intelligent mutation. The super-smart Grey Matter disabled the weapon and the helmet safely as Animo ran off.

With both disabled, Animo’s mutations transformed back into lifeless fossils. The DEO (Department of Extranormal Operations) arrived when they saw what was happening and arrested Dr. Animo; Ben and his family escaped the agents’ notice and drove off in the RV. But what did Animo mean by “something else”? Meanwhile, a young man named Kevin was observing Ben and the watch from a distance…

* Ben Tennyson, aka Ben 10, is the Absolute DC version of 'Robby Reed', protagonist of the mainstream DC comic series “Dial H For Hero”.

** Makes sense to me, since Cartoon Network and DC Comics are both owned by Warner Brothers.
* As you already know, the ‘watch’ is actually called The Omnitrix and was created by the decerased supervillain Prometheus.
** Ben 10’s superhuman forms are mutated human forms here instead of superpowered alien species, like in his original series.
* The other seven forms are:
** Diamondhead is living crystal, super-durable and able to morph his limbs into into spikes and blades.

** Ghostfreak is a ghost-like form, capable of levitating and becoming invisible and intangible.

** Heatblast is made of living rock with a living core of flame. Capable of firing flame blasts.

** Ripjaws, a humanoid fish, is capable of underwater survival and superfast swimming.

** Stinkfly is a large insectoid, with wings for flight and an adhesive spray attack.

** Upgrade is a mass of techno-organic material that can fuse to metal and control machines.

** And Wildmutt is a dog-like mutation with no eyes or voice, but superhuman agility and senses and sharp claws and fangs.

* A lot of the transformations’ microheroes are from .

* Vilgax, who will become Ben’s archenemy, is a Daemonite here for reasons of needing to include them when I mentioned the Kherubin.
