Description

The Justice League’s spaceship, the Javelin, touched down at the edge of a clearing in the New York state forest, detecting a massive cloaked structure in the middle. The structure, a gigantic dome, undid its cloaking field and opened its front doors. The Justice League entered the darkened facility and found a podium, bathed in a spotlight, with a cloaked figure standing at it.

Superman: “It’s over, whatever you’re planning. And you’re going back to prison, Lionel.”

???: “No, he isn’t.”

The figure then pulled off the entirety of his cloak, revealing himself to be not Lionel Luthor, but his son, Lex Luthor.

Astonished, Superman asked why and how he’s doing this!

Lex: “A tale for later… but first, let me introduce you to… The Doomed.”

When he said this, all of the lights came on in this central atrium, revealing that the podium connected to a large, curved conference table with all the villains and super-criminals Lex recruited seated in their respective places! As you can see, The Doomed also consists of:

The Joker, a deranged serial killer who opposes Batman and Robin;

Cheetah and Giganta, cyborgs who oppose Wonder Woman;

Bizarro and Solomon Grundy, two savage superhumans who are being controlled by Lex via brain implants;

Sinestro, enemy of Green Lantern and dishonorably discharged Spectrum Lantern who retains his Yellow Lantern;

Grod, a highly-intelligent gorilla who opposes Flash;

Killer Frost, a former ally of Flash who wields Citizen Cold’s cryo-weapon technology;

The Manta, nemesis of Aquaman;

Deathstroke, a deadly mercenary hired by Lex;

Zoom, an evil speedster later revealed to be Prof. Eobard Thawne, Flash’s old mentor and creator of Grod;

and The Scarecrow, another enemy of Batman and Robin.

With but a wave of his hand, Lex Luthor ordered his teammates to attack and destroy the Justice League as he watches. The Doomed lept from their seats and rushed the heroes, who had no choice but to defend themselves. A battle between good and evil shook the very halls of this facility as both sides arved a swath of destruction through the place, travelling deeper undrground into the base’s hidden labs and prison complex. In said complex, Batman had Scarecrow on the ropes as Joker was accidentally frozen by a stray ice shot from Killer Frost and Robin was fighting Deathstroke. The Ragdoll, a monstrous minion of Scarecrow, ambushed Batman and fought him, just as Batman found another villain, The Riddler, who was locked up in the prison for failing The Doomed’s test for membership. As Green Arrow fought Solomon Grundy, Superman, regretfully, had to fight Bizarro, who was Superman’s friend Dru-Zod now corrupted into a mindless beast. Killer Frost went toe-to-toe with Booster Gold and Blue Beetle as Wonder Woman had to fight Cheetah and Giganta. Grod had Flash in a stranglehold as Zoom rapid-punched him in the stomach, but he managed to break free and redirect a few of Zoom’s attacks at Grod. Finally, we have Green Lantern fighting Sinestro, and Aquaman fighting Manta, both of them replete with new costumes. After finally taking down Bizarro, Superman flew into the final lab facility, right before the lowest floor of The Doomed’s base. He found a bunch more of the Composite Androids who attacked the JL’s headquarters, learning they were created by Lex, and the severed, but still alive, head of Amazo, a cyborg created by The Syndicate who also possessed the JL’s collective powers and technology. Lex revealed that Amazo’s technology is the basis of the Composites, and then he blasted Supes with a particle laser that uses Krypton, Superman’s main weakness. Lex then donned a battlesuit, stuffed to bursting with Krypton-based weapons, and used it to fight Superman. With Joker defeated, Batman rescued Amazo’s head from the crossfire and gave it to Flash, who raced back to put it safely in the Javelin after besting Zoom. In the end, Supes and Lex smashed their way into the bottom most floor as they fought, and the battlesuit was busted. The final floor was completely empty except for a stasis pod. Lex, not giving up yet, remotely opened the stasis pod! And guess who stumbles out? Lionel Luthor, in his green prison jumpsuit. Superman asked Lex why he freed his dad, only to lock him up here. Lex said that he practically abandoned him, sick with cancer, and his sister Lena to pursue a vendetta against Superman, and now he’s ready to prove his superiority to both Supes AND his father. So, when Lionel was freed, the chemical cocktail that Lionel was injected with before being put into stasis took effect. Thanks to Lex’s tampering with Lazarus, a chemical created by the immortal Ra’s Algol, Lionel mutated into a titanic, spike-covered monster with Krypton in its blood and on its breath. Before escaping, Lex Luthor said to Superman:

“This is your Doomsday!”

To Be Concluded…
