Description
The Kent Nelson Institution in Salem, MS, rarely had entertained outsiders, apart from the families of the magically-empowered students it homes, but this was an exception. The Justice League was here, working now with the Institution’s magic hero team, The Shadowpact, to discuss the coming of a new crisis, which was both magical and extraterrestrial in nature. The younger students were asked to leave the main library by Dr. Todd Scott, the headmaster of the school, so the Shadowpact and the JL can figure out who the Five Inversions are, what they want with the Intrinsic Field Separator the stole from Earth, and how to defeat them. Alex DeWitt, the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814 and member of the Justice League, used her Lantern Device to communicate remotely with her Corps’ Guardian leader, Ganthet, and ask him about the Five Inversions. Upon her mentioning to him the utterance of a name, “Starheart”, the eons-old Guardian demanded to be allowed to speak with the JL and the Shadowpact. Green Lantern manifested a hologram of Ganthet so he may speak to our heroes. According to him, the Starheart is a spherical compression of overly-powerful magic energies the Guardians created to banish the power into the void of space. It was never meant to be found, but now someone is using it to make more Starhearts to empower The Five Inversions with Lantern-like abilities. When asked where this magic energy initially came from Ganthet told them…
It begins with a man called Dominus. Eons ago, shortly after the Guardian Council formed the Spectrum Lanterns, Tuoni was originally a priest for a peaceful alien society. But, when his lover Ahti surpassed him and became the Kismet, the leader of their society’s priestly caste, Tuoni became exceedingly jealous. He turned to blood magic in rage and created the Dominators. The Dominators are creatures of pure rage, horrid in visage, sadistic in combat, and what can mutate the genetics of anyone through a poison that pumps out through their extended bone claws. Now calling himself “Dominus”, he sent the Dominators to mutate and slaughter the people of his planet, claiming it as his own. With the Dominators his army and the sickly, mutated people his subjects and slaves, Dominus crowned himself The King of Tears, and sought to create The Empire of Tears through more conquests. The Kismet tried to appeal to her former love, but Dominus soon enough slew her. The fledgling Spectrum Lantern Alliance managed to defeat the Empire of Tears and locked Dominus and all of the Dominators within a “subtle realm” prison beneath the surface of Oa, the home planet of the Green Lantern Corps, one of the six corps that make up the SLA. The Guardians then took the whole of Dominus’ blood magic and compressed it into a single item, the Starheart, to banish it and its power to the farthest reaches of space they could muster.
But, with the Starheart somehow returning and the Five Inversions using it to create more to infuse their soldiers with power, Ganthet and the other members of the Guardian Council must bolster their forces and find where the Five Inversions have set up their base of operations. With that, Ganthet asked the Justice League and the Shadowpact to help them against this new threat. They may have to recruit more heroes into their forces for them to succeed, though…
