So, I've never worked so hard for so long on any piece of art in my entire life. For real. There is nothing I have ever drawn before that's taken more time and effort.
I'm really really happy it's done.

I FORGOT TO DRAW LUNA'S WINGS IN THE SECOND PANEL. Not fixing it.
Also I legitimately didn't bother to draw Dash's cutie mark in the first panel.
I HAD A LOT OF STUFF TO DRAW OKAY?
Also, a warning to anyone who wants to hit the download button... look at the size of the file and think about it before you do.
Lastly, for Applejack and Rainbow Dash's shocked expressions, I intentionally sorta borrowed bobthedalek 's art style because I really like how he draws pony faces. :3

Perhaps I should rephrase my statement.
Luna looks awesome in this piece, and that is what really sells it for me. Everything else that you mention contributed to that, but the straw that broke the camel's back was badass Luna.

I was originally going to do this with Cadence, 'cause she's my favourite princess... But Luna's intimidating approach and willingness to display her alicorn magic made her perfect for the role.
Not to mention how little development Luna's had... I had a lot of artistic freedom, but I did try to put together something believable. :3
I might do something like this for ALL the princesses. Cadence being next.
