Description
This is a part of the next comic page. I just wanted to show you guys how I usually draw on paper and then scan them in for colouring. The steps:
1. Sketch with a cyan colour pencil on paper. (or you could sketch digitally and print them out, make sure the lines are 100% cyan)
2. Draw over the lines with a mechanical pencil or ink (whatever medium you prefer for doing lineart.)
3. When finished, scan it.
4. Open in photoshop and do Ctrl+U and you should get the Hue/Saturation panel.
5. On that panel click the drop down menu on "master" and use Cyan.
6. Drag the " Lightness" bar all the way to the right. The blue will dissapear but the pencil will stay!
7. In case the blue lineart turns grey, it means its not 100% Cyan, do not worry. Just go back on "Master" on the Hue/Saturation panel and drag the "Saturation" bar little to the right,
until the blue is really bright cyan. Then repeat step 5 and 6.
8. Now it is time to make the lineart darker. Use Ctrl+ L (Levels stab) to adjust your lineart. If you don't know how. Check my older tutorial:
9. In case you live bits of yellow, use step 5 & 6 again but instead of "Cyan" you choose " Yellow".
Hope it helps

I adore this method. Sometimes if I'm really ballsy I'll ink it with my fineliners and then scan in Photoshop.
I got lucky once at this small art shop and found blue lead for mechanical pencils. I haven't found them much since; I'd imagine maybe drafting supplies might have them?

Awesome! I use red pencil (I just like red lol, I did start with blue back when I began university though) and another method, but it's awesome to learn about your method, as it's one I had previously not heard of!
I hope it helps loads of people, and I'll have to try it sometime!

It could work with other colors from the cmyk or rgb colour circle. So if you use a yellow pencil you remove with the yellow etc. But colours need to be 100% :3

Instead of a light box, when it was time for me to buy a desk, I chose a glass one. I put a light bulb under it when I need to transfer a drawing.

When I was in college for animation, this is how we were taught to do art for scanning in (well, we were taught to use cyan and adjust settings, at least) :u Very good technique, for sure. I don't use it that often, but my linework and such is usually digital anyhow. I do like the look of your traditional lines, though :v

^^ i said it was an option. You can sketch traditionally with a blue pencil too.
I do this because I get better result lineart than digital. Plus i got ruled comic paper for comics too :3
