What a strange and yet striking piece!
I rarely draw, and when I do it is usually anime as my skills lie in the wonderful world of photography, but I will try to critique this as best I can.
The shading in this looks wonderful, especially on the twisting branches of the trees that the girl is holding onto.
I also love the way the branches look like fingers and hands, I am not sure whether they want to help or to snatch her away. They look slightly evil, but we should never judge a book by its cover although sometimes we must.
I think the expression on the girls face could be a little stronger though, as she is probably petrified.
Over all, this is a beautiful yet dramatic piece. Well done.

thanks for he critique. I'm interested to hear you found the picture foreboding. I never saw that myself. I found it melancholy. It's very interesting to hear another perspective. thank you

First I would like to say how nice it is to see a different style on dA. The legs seem a wee bit off but only if you stare for awhile. Now the tree the tree is beautiful. Only issue about it is that its not finished e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
" title="Wink/Razz" />. The arms/shoulders seem kinda awkward but once again not that bad. Now for the general style for the figure. Its something we all remember from seeing famous traditional artists from school yet still has a modern feel to it. To say the least about I love it. Now the only killer for this pic is obviously that it isn't done. If it was I'd give it a good ol'
e.deviantart.net/emoticons/p/p⦠" width="15" height="16" alt="
" title="+fav" /> in no time.
So the overall feel is a great piece needing to be finished. Great work!
I know I am very harsh at critiques and may come off as irritating but I only say it how I'd like to be told. Truthfully.
So PLEASE do me a favor and critique me harshly as well.

Anatomy problems or not, this is a very striking piece. The tree has an interesting pattern, and your stippling is fabulous. It's realistic, but has a touch of style to it. Nicely done.

Thank you, but I can see it so it's done for me. I maybe just need to give it a little time
