Description
I painted it in gray-scale, then did colors over top. That made the basic shading end so much earlier! Then I continued to paint on top of the color and experimented with textures. I created a custom freckle brush for her. I just put her photo next to my canvas so I could really look. I am working on stopping the lazy no-looky-itus and really made sure it looked like the photo.10 hr total with color. Photoshop CS3, Intuos 3 Wacom Tablet.
I do not own the character, this is practice and not for sale

I like how it turned out, both in color and grayscale. It's also interesting to read about the process. Kudos for experimenting around, I am often too lazy or afraid to try something new.

While I really appreciate these and they are very good. You have to ask before you use someones art. You were very appreciative but I did not create the portrait for any changes. Please list me as the artist of the Caprica portrait in all of those or take them down. You must also put my signature back in each of those if they are going to stay, I do not want my signature removed ever. You are not aloud to post these anywhere else. I have to say this in order to protect myself. Thank you for contacting me and you did a good job, just ask first next time ok. Many artists are not going to be as nice as me.

When you buy something, it becomes yours. You pay for the internet.

So what planet do you live on where you think this is the case? Apparently if I pay for the internet, and you are on it, I own you now? Since I own you, I can tell you what to do. Take down all the works where you used shit that doesn't belong to you. Now. Oh wait. You're one of those trolls, aren't you? Or are you an idiot? I'm sorry I get that confused so often it's hard to tell which is which.

no....that is not how copyright law works in the United States. Since that art was made in the United States it is ruled by its laws and so is the artist. I have copyright over those pieces and wish to show my work. This is why people use watermarks. I did not put one because they can cover the art. But I have started doing that because of this problem.
Just because it is on the internet does not mean you can just take things. You don't own all of the web sites, music, words and everything else on the internet. That is just asinine.
Just ask people, most will say yes. Be respectful of others and if they say no, take it down.

thank you so much.
Actually I'm working on something that will blow this out of the water. But Caprica will always be one of my favorites.

Oh oh, this is really lovely and photo-realistic. The level of detail and texture on her skin really does her justice . I have to say though, the best part is all that long flowing hair, you got it spot on!

Thank you, I thought so too. Hair has always been my favorite part to paint or draw.
Everytime watched BSG I just wanted to paint her so bad until I found the perfect picture.
I still want to do more paintings of her, and Baltar.
Great show, Inspireing people.

Couldn't agree more. This is awesome!!!
And yes, BSG is also [one of imo ] the best shows ever made!
She's also made it into more than a few games since too. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars from EA, and Starcraft II from Blizzard [which is yet to be released ]
This chick rocks xD

Thanks!!!
I really think it was on a class on it's own above all others.
Actually Tricia Helfer has been in many things since BSG ended, Halo ODST, Chuck, Warehouse 13, Burn Notice, Supernatural...and so forth.
She was a model from Canada before BSG...crazy huh?
