Description I am almost decided to make this game using my first engine. Basicly, it's a megaman-like game, action, shooting, bosses, etc. I will add more things like melee attacks, upgrading stats(power, stamina, skills) and a power up system. Yep, it's kinda FMG, she will get stronger, faster and gain new moves.

I am uploading other things I developed so far.

Nope. The project got stuck. But I have plans to resume someday.

How big are you thinking about making her? If this is a three stage look I think a fourth stage would be badass

Well, I think 3 stages is good. I can make the third stage bigger. But I still have to see how these different sizes will impact the gameplay.

well, from my perspective, if you don't want to have to redo her attacks for each level (which would be understandable) then what you've got now will work perfectly, if you made her much taller her attacks would be over the enemies' heads so redoing her attacks would be a must.

not saying I wouldn't want to see that, I'm just trying to give food for thought in case you don't want to do that

I thought about that too, thats why I kept the crouch function. But the overcharge forms will have extra moves, moves the normal form doesn't have. These extra moves will be more destructive and with wide range, You will not have to worry about hiting small enemies.

dude. . . you could do alot with that idea, new move sets means a new way to play the game, a new way to play the game means new challenges, and new ways to fight bosses :3


Sadly the depressing gamer critic in me is saying something like that absolutely has to be temporary (unless it's at the last boss battle) or else it will break the game and make it too easy.


But let's talk about overcharge movesets. First thing that comes to mind is Giga Bowser from Super Smash Bros' Brawl for the Wii. Did you ever play that? It was really cool, bowser got a finishing move where he grew into a freaking huge monster and all his moves tripled in damage, but it did some things wrong, such as making him unable to navigate the levels and only lasting for what felt like ten seconds. Either way I think that would be a good model to observe for overcharge... wait was all of that too soon? ... Yeah too soon, I'll shutup now until you release some concept pics of roll overcharged

Yeah, the overcharge effect will be temporary. When you reach the level 2, if you continue to killing the enemies and avoiding being hurt, then you may reach the level 3 overcharge(max).

But you are right, this need to be considered on the beginning, if not this may cause some big mess on the future, possibly breaking the game down. I have plans to include game modes, easy, normal, hard and extreme. Of course, I'll put some extra scenes in the ending for the tough players.

What I am worried is about the possibilty of saving the game, the flash isn't much "safe" in this area, you may erase the save files by cleanning the temporary internet files by mistake. I am not a flash genius and I believe there is another ways, like creating a save file where you can backup it anytime, this way you'll not lose your precious save file.

Really, tho, I think saving files to the temp folder is fine enough... and seems to be easy (I say seems to be because it's so common in games now) hope that is some help to you, if not I don't mind asking around newgrounds forums and such.



So you're thinking of three stages of Overcharge? THAT is ambitious! I don't know how big you're thinking but that just sounds really massive (and awesome)

If it's based on powerups, Roll should probably look 'softer' at the base level.

I like this concept. I wonder if she'll be able to fit inside inside the doctor's castle after defeating all 100 bosses? heh heh.

I would love this game!. Play it all the time if it gets made. Anyway, I do have to agree with thepatryn, although I DO like her getting more size and height, but the first form, MIGHT be a bit too much. Perhaps make her a much smaller but muscular frame as a first form, and create 2 more forms, ending up with a total of 5 forms?

The problem is about the amount of work necessary. These three forms have the same body structure. I will see what i can do about it.
Another problem I realized now: Roll will get much more easier to being hit by enemies as she grows. Maybe turning her immune to weaker attacks could solve that.

Hmm, true though about the amount of work needed because the three forms is what you wanted, but just take it as a mere suggestion and not as an order lol. And then the next time you can experiment it to see if the concept of having 2 smaller sizes will be good or not.

Hmm, it does make logical sense. The more she grows the more strength she has to resist the hits from her enemies. It might even work

I think the first form may be too big already, in the sense that the growth isn't that much muscle as size and height.
