Description

My first entry to my gallery that does not in some way involve catgirls, Star Trek or both (in the case of M'Ress).  A bit of absurdity for the season, the real horror being the tangle of copyright issues the IP owners would need to settle before permitting such a crossover!  In the extreme foreground we have "Thing" from the Addams Family.  Given he is free of his box and has no sutures, one could argue this is the version from the 1991 movie adaptation.  To make the composition a bit more balanced, I increased his size by roughly 2 or 3 times, otherwise, he'd just be kinda' "lost" the scene.  To stage right we have Ben Grimm of Marvel Comics' "Fantastic Four", also known as, well, "the Thing".  To stage left we have "the Thing from Another World" as portrayed by James Arness wearing Jack Pierce inspired makeup in the 1951 Howard Hawkes production, a very loose adaptation of the 1938 novella "Who Goes There?" written by John W. Campbell Jr.  Center stage rear we have "The Thing" as interpreted by John Carpenter, arguably closer to Campbell's idea of the alien being a shapeshifter, though I don't think he, using the pen name Don A. Stuart, described the creature as being so violently gruesome.  (It's been years since I read the novella, so I could be mistaken.)

This piece is not meant to be taken seriously by any means.  I just stopped to consider there are a number of characters called such and imagined some silly flick one might imagine playing at a vintage drive-in theater or upon some local TV station running its weekend "Multi Monster Mashup Madness Marathon".  Well, back when local stations did that sort of thing.  Now it's usually just a string of info-mercials when the national feed has concluded.

Anyway, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
