The fleet-footed, bright Goddess of the Rainbow, Iris acted as a divine messenger of the Gods and served Hera, Queen of Olympus, in particular. She could often be seen carrying messages between heaven and earth, her glorious cloak of many colors trailing always behind her.This painting was made using the amazing stock of , and the model, Jen, is unchanged in appearance, as a bit of a portrait. I thought the Goddess of the Rainbow would be a fitting tribute to Lisa and Jen, whose modeling and photography are such an amazing resource and inspiration!

Her rainbow cloak is absolutely amazing and I love how there are creases in it to make it look realistic! I also love how you added the winged sandals and the caduceus like Hermes has, it shows them that they have almost the same representation although hermes is the messenger of gods to gods and iris is from gods to mortals or those on earth. Beautiful work!

Though for you this piece is already ancient history I can't help but comment on the sheer beauty and awesomeness of it. I can't quite describe the feeling, but it's like a breeze of Ancient Greece came up at me.

I really love this, Iris has such a special significance to me; when my grandmother died, (her name was Iris) it was a terribly rainy and dreary day but right when she passed on this magnificent rainbow came out of nowhere and the clouds cleared and the rain stopped and it stayed like that for a good day after she passed on. My mother told me that the Goddess Iris of the Rainbow had come to take her away, that the souls of women in our family were taken into a rainbow and made it brighter and more beautiful as iris carried them to their soul's final resting ground. This really reminds me of that. Thank you
