Description
Demeter, the kind Greek goddess of vegetation and the fields. As the mother of Persephone, Demeter withholds her nourishing gifts in the months her daughter spends in the Underworld, and allows the world to burst into bloom each year upon her return. I've shown her fondly surveying her fields and orchards as she tenderly cradles some ears of early harvest corn.Related content

Bravo. You heard it, and all your pictures "reaped" afterwards. Any person can feel that there is more than "fantasy." The fineness of the lines, the delicacy of the colors ... even if a drawing is "only" Any person can communicate with the represented person very well. This is, for me, the best proof that the work is completed. If I have a problem and go to the "Council of the pre-Gone" has to get answers to difficult questions, I like to visit your pages.
There is so much to do may you never be discouraged, and make furtherΒ

Very nice touch, putting her in the middle of all living plants! She looks at peace; her daughter is home during these months. Lovely.

Thank you! I've always loved Demeter, she seems like the most benevolent of the Gods.

Her story is very, very interesting. I mean, the Greeks showed the intense love between a mother and a child, but is Persephone's father ever mentioned? In a male-dominated society, that's odd; it is giving the mother a certain dignity that can be seen in most of the stories. However, it probably would have been bad for a man's malehood to have cared too much about his daughter.
Ah, that's my immediate assessment.

In many versions of the story, Persephone's father is Zeus. I think in a few he's Poseidon, but you'll always find at least 10 versions of every story in Mythology.

cool pic
lol, hate to b a nark but . . .
demeater dose not go to the underworld, her daughter Persephonie dose, she was tricked into marrying Hades, and ate the food of the underworld, so cannor return, but Zeus made it so she could come out for half the year, and Demeter is happy and the lands thrive when she is reunited with her daughter, and Demeter goes into a depression when Persephonie returns to the underworld.
I love the pic mate, the style and green's r awesome

Oh yes, you're definitely right, but I think you may have misread the description. It said she waits for Persephone to return form the underworld, not that she goes there herself. I'm glad you like it!
