You don't need legs if you have a really cool ship! That is the philosophy of this spirited young mermaid who dreams of adventure on the high seas. Next time a passing vessel's crew gets careless, they may find themselves ship-jacked!My entry for *Sea-Creatures "A Mermaid's Dream" mini-contest.
Painted from scratch in Photoshop, using the beautiful stock of *Lisajen-stock as a reference for the mermaid.

The tail is so beautiful in this- it looks like it's shimmering from the reelection of the light on water! The shading really makes the painting realistic and her hair is so curly and pretty! Beautiful job!

Thanks! Actually all of my digital stuff is from scratch. My scanner isn't compatible with my laptop, so I keep it at my fiance's sister's place, and scan paintings there.

well, i think the water almost looks like it's moving, and i'm not on any medication whatsoever
but i love how creepy it looks, because that's exactly what i think of the ocean... creepy... with things lurking... actually, no - when i'm out of the water everything's calm and peaceful and lovely, but if i swim out too deep i panic about jellyfish and stingrays. sharks i don't care about, but jellyfish and stingrays... oh, and seaweed...
pathetic, i know. half the time there's nothing there and it's just my shadow. damn, that is pathetic - scared of my own shadow.
