Description Little has been spoken of this place called the Nether. Poring through the village's library, all I had managed to find were fragments of information. Some books said it was hell; others said no one had ever returned to tell the tale... But there was one thing in common in all these manuals - how to get there.

I set to work, collecting the necessary objects - Obsidian was the key to creating the portal. The Villagers advised me not to - even warding me away from the village, not wanting these mythical creatures I had never heard of to enter our world. So I left them, and returned to my home I had built away from these people.

The portal was complete, and I performed the ritual correctly - the portal was ablaze in an eerie purple light - I felt prepared, armed and ready for whatever may be on the other side.

With a deep breath, I stepped through the portal.

The sight was spectacular. Everything was so... hot. Lava ran down all the walls, even the rock that crumbled beneath my feet was warm to the touch and of a reddish hue. There were plenty of fires and it just seemed to go on endlessly.

In the distance, I could see a dark silhouette of a huge ominous structure. Curiosity got the better of me. I stepped down from the portal and began to explore this hellish new world.

YAYYY ANOTHER AWESOME MINECRAFT PICTURE... OF THE NETHER!

My OC, Erin, takes her first steps into this firey world. What will happen?

I had so much fun drawing this I hope you guys like looking at it as much I had making it!!!

Made on Gimp, very loosely following these tutorials -

The Ghast is absolutely awesome by far my favourite bit of this due to the fact it looks like something made in hell.

There's very little to fault with this image, the colours are bang on and the way you've made the lava look both real and as if it were moving. Shading is good everywhere, especially with how the rocks manage to be illuminated by the glowstone.

Only issue, the positioning of the right arm is a bit off and doesn't look quite right, but apart from that the entire piece is phenomenal and I WANT IT! xD

Yyaayy thanks for the feedback! I love the stuff ^_^

Hmm.. really? The more I look at it the more I think her left arms is off.. it's too long and sticking out at an odd angle tbh... When holding an object in that manner, your arm isn't in line with your shoulders...

I love the natural look of the nether (if something like the nether could be considered natural) compared to the blocky Minecraft one. Seeing it like this definitely makes one's imagination run wild.

I also love seeing how different people interpret how the mobs would look in the real world. Your ghast is definitely one of my favorite renditions I've found yet.

Just out of curiosity, what program did you draw this in?

Thank you very much for you comment, I'm glad you like my piece! I agree, I enjoy trying to see how the blocks would look like in a more natural format as well

Oh wow, I'm honoured ^_^ Yeah, I had the impression they were jellyfish-like, so first and foremost I wanted that to be the immediate thought, with long flowing tendrils underneath. I wasn't sure if I wanted to add a face at first, but looking at the original texture for that mob, I played around and managed to make it work

I drew this in GIMP 2.6, mostly all on one layer. I loosely followed this tutorial - [link] sometimes adding a layer in case I was afraid I'd ruin the whole picture. When it was done I'd merge the layers again ^_^
