Description
ok!!!!! so i love the show, but when I was looking for refrence pictures i came across the comic book, and I couldnt decide which designs I like better... so heres my rantCyborg: I HATE DRAWING CYBORG. grr... what a pain the ass, He took the most time to draw, cause you can't just watch the show and draw him, to many details and I know nothing about technology!!! THE SHOW HAS A BETTER DESIGN! seriously speaking, the comic verion of cyborg look like he's in womans lingerie. I dreaded drawing him.
Beastboy/Changeling: In the comic I used for refrnece he was called Changeling.... I like BeastBoy better, but whatever. These two look similar, only the show has a more updated style. HAHAHAHAHAHA, I sooooo messed up on the comic version! when I was colouring I assumed the pink was in the same place as the show...... nope of course it wasn't.... and i didnt have any white paint to cover it up, so I used whiteout... suprisingly it dosn't look bad... CONGRATS TO ME FOR FIXING A HORRID MISTAKE!
Raven: the desings are similar but obviously diffrent.... I like them both, alot! The show Raven looks almost as though she belongs in the comic version
Robin: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHA......... (deep breath) AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. ... hehehehehe.... hehehehehehe (sigh) what the hell was the author of the comic thinking when putting robin in a speedo? hahaha, I mean seriously, wern't speedos really racey back in the day? now thy're just a joke..... needless to say im sooooo happy wiht the new and improved robin, and it dosnt sound like they changed his personality at all.
Starfire: BIGGEST DISSAPOITMENT! Starfire (from what I gather from the character description) is not a push over and really wild and such, i thought rogue from x-men.... the show back when she was in a unitard and brown jacket(and im not just saying this cause their hair is similar) so her attitude is totally off in the show.... but i still kinda like it... it was just a dissapointment to find out they changed so much... and i liek the huge hair! it speaks about her personality.. which is why I think they tuned it down.... other then that, i like both outfits over all, you can see the simularities between the two.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? HAVE YOU READ THE COMIC? TELL ME, TELL ME ALL!

I always thought the comic was stupid, so I never had much respect for the cartoon either. But I guess it's still better than the comic. So it gets points for that.
Also, the show fixed something that I always found disturbing about the comic- how sexy the girls were. It's kind of creepy how sexed up they all were, despite the fact that they were supposed to be teens (jaaaaaaailbait...). In the show, they're relatively flat and juvenile-looking, which is more believable and less uncomfortable than their busty, scantily-clad comic book counterparts.

Just today I realized that the show was based on a comic, and was like "O_O WHAT!!?" but I looked it up, and it sounds interesting, but different, I think I might like it, so I'm a fan of simple cartoon-y styles (like Spectacular Spider-man style) so I might not like the art as much, but hay, I'm going to give it a chance :]

Raven and Best Boy have the best look from the comics. (They're also the most similar to the show, but that's not why I think that they're the best.) Everyone else sucks.
Cyborg: I can see whatcha mean by the lingerie comment. His costume... well, basically, it sucks. He is way too bulky in some parts, way too scrawny in others. And I do so prefer the coloured version. And the way they added some funky geometric patterns. It seems wy more natural, way more concievable and way more REAL in the show.
Robin: I think I choked on my own spittle when I saw comic Robin the first time ever. This experiance is barely better then that. SOOOOO love the show version, I cannot tell you.
Starfire: She acually does look kind of slutty. Well, very slutty. *covers head* Don't flame me yet! I just mean that too much of her body is showing off. I have no idea what you meant by 'armor' because all I see is bare skin and some purple ribbon. The show version is kind of cute, kind of trendy, if still a bit revealing. Also, comic Star has a strange orange thing that seems to be eating her head. it's orange and fluffy, and really sisturbing too. Which sucks, ecause she had a neat hairstyle from the show. *steps back* OK, now you can flame me.
Raven: I hate the fact that she wears a long form-fitting dress in the comic. It must be so hard to go out every day and fight crime in the city like that. What a drag. Her show outfit might be lacking a bit in the leg department as her legs freeze off and shrivel on account of she's wearing a leotard and yes her boots aren't nearly as long as they ought to be for comfort, but whatever. And the whole thing with two broaches on her cloak in the comic; well, they're always drawn like they weigh more then is practical.
The Amazing Grass Stain: For one thing, he doesn't have a consistant name. Does that bug anyone else? Also, I agree with the "lighter colour" comments. It's really irritating. I like how it seems to blend and yet stand out on the show. This is actually the version in which I have the least gripes about; surprising really, because he's my second least favorite character.
Looking back, this seems like just a big rant on why the comic sucks. But that's not how I wanted it to come off as.
Tootles!

Awesome! I love seeing art of the '80s Titans, especially when they're done in a style like this..you know, sorta like the show but not at the same time? Um..
Yeah, Starfire and Raven got changed quite a bit. Kory was a tad bubbly at the beginning of the '80s series (not as happy-go-lucky as toon Kory though), but developed a wild streak quite fast. Yep, she was quite wild indeed. Raven meanwhile..went from the mostly kind of quiet and reserved girl to..well, still mostly kind of quiet and emotionless but sarcastic and a bit of a bratty streak also.
As for the guys..Beast Boy is pretty similar to his comic counterpart, except they took out his womanizing and pervy-teenage-boy bits. Cyborg, from what I've read, seems pretty close. Robin..well, they made him into more of an action-boy and a tad more obsessive, but I don't think they strayed THAT far with him.
As for the designs themselves? Although I do have somewhat of a soft spot for the original Robin costume, at the same time..I'm freaked out and laughing at the ridiculous thing at the same time. So in that case, the show design is quite an improvement.
I think for the show Cyborg design, they based it loosely off of the early '90s Cyborg look from the "Titans Hunt" storyline. It does look quite similar, as he was bald there, and had bulkier armor and cybernetic parts. I like how they added a little bit of blue to toon-Cyborg though.
Beast Boy..well, his comic costume looked alright, but I think darkening the colors for the show version helped. Because sometimes, bright red, green, and white just clash when they're made TOO bright (which happened in some cases).
The girls..well..although I like Raven's long dress and high heels, I like the long-sleeved leotard look of the show too. So they're both pretty nice. I do wish they gave toon-Raven longer boots, though (like her current comic costume), I think they would've gone a bit better with the leotard. Starfire..wow. Big difference THERE. I like that her comic costume was basically armored and had a bit more detail to the glove/arm guards and boots than the show version. Though at the same time, I sort of like the miniskirt look too.
Great job on these guys. It's not that often that you see comic-Titans art around here..

hehehe, thanx for the opinions, its neat to see what other poeple think. its funny everyone has about the same things to say, overall i think people like the show designs better, but thats probably becasue they're more modern, and its what poeple are used to seeing.

If I want a simple, yet funny thing to watch/read, I would watch the show Teen Titans. But otherwise, the comic Teen Titans wins hands down for me. (Don't get me wrong, I love the show too, it's just the 1980's the BEST of them all!)
Very cool pictures of them, and no, raerob-rox10, Starfire is NOT a slut. I suggest you acutally research on her character from comics and you will see that she is not what you called her.

cool! i've nevr read the comics, more or less becasue i dont like how you have to buy amaerican comics as small books, instead of a manga.

Well, acutally, the small books you're talking about is one issue each. There are special graphic novels containing an average of five or more issues inside. You can buy them, and if you're interested in that, you really should. George Perez's art is amazing. (The 1980s Titans)
True, they're not as big as manga graphic books, but they're worth it. In addition to the five issues, there are forewords and an index on the characters. If you don't want to, that's okay.

i love raven , beast boy (garfield) and star(koiandr....i think) in the comics....
but i could laugh myself sick at robin and cyborg....i mean, robin running around in underwear?
the comics have a better storyline (i love raven in them!^_^) i think, but since the series are for younger people, i guess its okay.
but its awesome that you compare the two!! and it a very nice drawing! *favs*

loz. That's what I can't stand about when they turn comics into cartoons. They change everything, and they either dissapoint everyone or confuse them! {sigh} But I think your drawing is awesome! It's all pretty close to real! And about that speedo thing, I know what you're saying. He looks either really gay, or really stupid. I can't decide.
