Description
Hello once again you internet dwelling people! Behold, I have returned and such with another idea. This all came from the fact that in the new snapshot for Minecraft there's a one eyed, drug-induced monster known as the Guardian ( minecraft.gamepedia.com/Guardi…) which attacks squids. Now, I don't know about you but I'm quite fond of squids in Minecraft, mostly because they look so ridiculous, so of course they need something to protect them. Hence, the battering squid was born though they were originally going to have a jousting lance growing out of it's shell, and ten tentacles but a combination of Minecraft squids having eight tentacles and that it covered up its beak too much stopped the latter. Now, the colouring for the texture was inspired by this little cuttlefish here www.reef2reef.com/blog/wp-cont… which, in my opinion, improves the mob. The upper two images are just showing off the mob whilst the bottom two had the tentacles removed to show of the beak, both closed and opened. I might change the tentacles and the 'stone block' at a later date but for now, I'm pretty proud of the modelling. Anyway, for more information of how it would be implemented into Minecraft (if I were to do it), simply look below as usual.Battering Squid
Mob Type: Hostile
Health Points: 30
Attack Damage Points (Charge): 25 (From twenty five to thirty blocks away), 20 (From nineteen to twenty four blocks away), 15 (From thirteen to eighteen blocks away), 10 (From seven to twelve blocks away)
Attack Damage Points (Melee): 3 (Easy), 4 (Normal), 6 (Hard)
Spawns: Water in Ocean Biomes
Behaviour: The Battering Squid is an uncommon species of cephalopod that scours the oceans, searching for fresh prey to kill. Whilst they'll certainly attack swimming players, if they notice any guardians they'll charge straight for them and engage in mortal combat. However, if they sense an Elder Guardian nearby then they'll swim away as quickly as they can. Battering Squids are usually found solitarily in shoals of Squids, though rarely they can spawn in groups of three to five of them.
Attack Methods: The main method of attack that the Battering Squid uses is (as the name suggests) by propelling itself across distances and crushing the enemy with the stone block embedded into the tip of it's shell. The further away the Battering Squid's away from its target then the more damage it'll do to said target. However, if the Battering Squid is one to six blocks close to it's target then it cannot charge at it. Instead, it'll just simply flail its tentacles in the targets face.
Drops:
Two to Five Ink Sacs
Three Stone Blocks
As usual, please leave a comment below. Especially about what you think about the new layout, inspired the one that uses for his own Minecraft ideas.

I love it good sir! I say, the stone "tip" is quite the touch! Good show I say!
Interesting how it attacks guardians I say! Sort of a "nature vs nature" type situation. Allow me to interven- *ArkaiusX was battered to death by battering squid* ... never mind.

Why thank you
Yeah, as I explained it did seem to make sense. If the squids of Minecraft are going to become the oceanic form of villagers (as in, being victims to bizarre creatures) then they should have their own monstrous forms as well XD

I am astonished. After going silent for so long, you bring this briney beast from the depth of your mind! The concept is absolutely amazing, and the model is amazing, but what i love the most is the texture! I am honestly jealous I didn't think of this! Since most of the mobs I have released are aquatic, I wanted to come up with a unique mob that could rival the Guardians, and this is the perfect match for them! Now I have to think of a Squid-related mob different than this to create for myself!
god man you got to leave somethings open for me, how am I gonna get anywhere when you release stuff first that will make mine look like I'm copying you.
Maybe make the Stone end of the Shell, and maybe parts of the shell itself resemble Prismarine? Possibly Dark Prismarine, or you could even give them varied shells. I'm going to make something that could put a hole through this weakling you call a squid XD
I look forward to your return, and I can't wait to see what you create next ;D
RELEASE THE MINIATURE KRAKEN!!!!!

Well as much as I appreciate it, I must admit that a comment of this detail is difficult to reply to
Thank you a lot for this, and your idea for varied shells is an interesting one. I might consider it ;3

Ugh, since you beat me to it, now I have to rethink my squid's model, which is going to be difficult. My Baculite model I did WAY back was the basis for the look, with the stone-like shell
The flaps/fins and coloring are based off of the Hummboldt Squid
I wanted to, also, make a mob that could protect the Squids from the Guardian's tyranny
I initially tried to make the model different, but I couldn't find a way that looked good :I

Again, perhaps you could base on a mob that would make sense to have a drilling attack?

But who's a better protector of squids than a squid?!

RedPanda7 In reply to EnderBeast2000 [2014-06-28 22:32:40 +0000 UTC]
An octopus?
A whale (for ironic reasons though, of course)?
A crab?
The oceanic possibilities are endless

But I has a whale already, and squids need protection from that too XD
Idk how I'd do a Octopus
You probably had the same thought, what else to protect squids than a squid?

RedPanda7 In reply to EnderBeast2000 [2014-06-28 22:36:57 +0000 UTC]
Actually I never intended them to protect squids. It's just something to illustrate how the two species hate each other :/

Well not protect them, but they have natural aggression towards Guardians, and in turn, draw attention away from normal Squids.
