Goldfish are basically the fish equilevent of golden apples. It restores 5 hunger and gives an enhanced regeneration for four seconds. You don't need to/can't cook it.Related content

They are awesome
The only problem is that there's only one type of skeleton (Archer) and if there was a skeleton with a sword it would be like having a highly flamable knight. And if my weapon ideas were added to Minecraft then you could have roman skeletons with spears and beserk skeletons with hammers

I think if you then put the goldfish into a crafting table underneath string, then it could make a tamed goldfish (string for the collar and lead), and you could right click while holding it in water and a little goldfish should appear and you should be able to name it and...
Infact, leave that and make a really nice tameable animal, one that won't be boring like a wolf.
