You put them on, and breath underwater. If its nearly destroyed though, it orks like a normal helmet instead.

Idea: pearls can be found in chests. Ores doesn't make any sense considering pearls are made by oysters.

I think an Atlantis biome would be really cool. You could have it be hidden under the water a few blocks, and there is only one in each world. In a sense, they could be a very rare dungeon.

I know, but I wanted to make up an ore that you can find in a dimension I made up (Atlantis) but I couldn't think of any gems you find in the sea

Basalt, copper, silver, gold, iron, manganese, zinc, lead, nickel, and diamonds can be found in deep waters. That does add a few new ores into the game, plus it provides another source for existing ores.
You can always add fictional ores as well.

Why would a pearl be as good as a diamond? Pearls are made from grit and sand and other random particulates.
