Heres a use for crystals[link] Basically, each staff has two uses. If you put them on an enchantment table once (with ten experience) it will upgrade them. They have the same durability as iron swords and the durability 'recharges' once you've upgraded it.
Red Staffs create blocks of lava if you right click and if you left click you shoot fire discharges. Once upgraded, right clicking will spawn a phoenix and left clicking will throw a blaze bomb.
Yellow Staffs create blocks of dirt if you right click and if you left click you place down torches. Once upgraded right clicking will spawn a chicken and left clicking will throw a sticky bomb.
Blue Staffs create blocks of water if you right click and if you left click you shoot thunder discharges. Once upgraded right clicking will spawn a flamingo and left clicking will throw a diamond bomb.
Purple Staffs create blocks of acid if you right click and if you left click you shoot arrows. Once upgraded right clicking will spawn an pidgeon and left clicking will throw a frag bomb.
