Description
I finally got around to it! I've finally made a reference sheet! My first ever... I'd love to get some feedback on things I should do or add.
The clothes... That's mainly for my buddy Temiree. He's going to draw the two of us in a picture soon. commissioned him
Otherwise... Well, We don't need to worry about the clothes too much. This will still be a great resource for me in the future, I think. It's nice to have things set out like this. It'll at least be a starting point!
Again, I'd love some critiques... (I do know that the heads in the different views came out slightly different size...)
Edit: ~mamei799 Just pointed out that I'm wearing shoes in this... That's correct. I'm still thinking it over. I admit it's fun to go barefoot everywhere, but is that really reasonable...?
For a 4-footed animal, sure. The weight's distributed nicely, so if you step on something, you're not going to fall over if it hurts... Whereas if you're on 2 feet, you can loose your balance if you step on something unpleasant... I don't know

:laughs: Good luck with that!
I wish I could have tried my paw at archery at the Scottish Games. They offer a class at my college, though! I think I'm going to try it out.

Thank-ya! I'm thinking about leaving the underarms tan... But I can never decide. It's kinda hard to draw

Great ref Red the only thing I can think which you missed is shading opacity and those kinda notes. Really, really amazing ref other than that though

Hmmm.... I think I see what you're saying. For the most part though, I'd be shading cel-style though

Sorry I've never really understood what cell shading is would you mind telling me?

RedRodent In reply to Taggz [2008-03-22 17:30:58 +0000 UTC]
Cel shading -- in stead of the blended kind -- is a type of shading that uses solid colors in the brightest or darkest areas, with no inbetween gradient... Here's an excellent example of cel shading: [link] and here's another example of regular, more realistic shading: [link]

Ah I see so cell shading is where you can actually see the different shades whereas gradient is where there are too many to tell, thanks man

Hey man, I Logged in briefly during lunch time at college for a couple of minutes and I saw this. THANK YOU for making this ^_^ I was wondering what I was gonna make you wear in my gift sketch. I've only been practicing drawing your face at the moment. This reminds me to make a Ref sheet for Faolan here[link]
I think I might draw him showing his feet, if that doesn't bother you. Maybe you can have his toes showing through the front of the boots?

RedRodent In reply to StewieTheGiant [2008-03-18 20:42:28 +0000 UTC]
Ho ho... I guess great minds think alike The costumes do look a bit similar, eh? That's funny...
Sure! You could draw him totally barefoot for all I care...! I myself tend to go barefoot whenever possible. I was sort of experimenting with boots here... Not really 100% on of he should be wearing them or not, as of yet. Thanks!

StewieTheGiant In reply to RedRodent [2008-03-18 21:44:56 +0000 UTC]
Well I guess their costumes are kind of similar, but Faolan's covers his most of his body, and the green is darker. The inspiration for Faolan's costume was actually a combination of Link's from Twilight Princess and Altair's from Assassin's Creed.

Nice.... I'm not all sure where mine came from. The Secret of NIMH is an obvious influence though Legend of Zelda too, I guess.

Ah, that's basically what it was. I was going to ask if you'd sketch me out in both forms: Dragon and wolf. I'd give a worded description and I'd colour it, I just need lineart done because I can't find a tutorial on drawing either one and I need SEVERE help with poses. I won't bother you with it, though.

Everyone needs help with poses It's always a good policy to use references... Here's a site that a buddy of mine sent me... It's helped him tremendously -- [link]
hotosets tell me what you think.
They always say to use reference if you can't draw from life. Hope it helps. As to drawing your different forms... I'd try searching DeviantArt for good drawings of werewolves and wolves in general, as well as dragons-- for inspiration. You can try drawing pictures of the artist's work (don't post those without asking first ) and then try incorporating all you've learned into new drawings. Hope that helped!
