Description
American Dad continues its golden era with season 6. Honestly, this might be my favorite season of the show. There are numerous classics to be found here and there was only one real dud, "Flirting with Disaster," and another I didn't care for, "White Rice." Otherwise, this is easily the most consistent the show has ever been. The way the show handles its humor is so creative, and this is perfectly shown in the season premiere, "100 A.D." Every scene in this episode is bursting with energy, and the lines in this episode are truly layered both with cleverness and creativity. Its easily the funniest episode so far. I can also say similar things about other great outings like "Stan's Food Restaurant," "The People vs. Martin Sugar." and "License to Till."
The show continues to show how creative it is with its premise, like having an episode where Stan tries to spice up a haunted house with real serial killers, or an entire episode with the family having to fight off an evil Santa. Even the more standard episodes of the season like "A Piñata Named Desire" or "Jenny Fromdabloc" still have a strong sense of humor that allows me to enjoy them a lot, showing that no matter what episode you are watching this season (barring two or three episodes) you are guaranteed at least something out of it, whether it'd be really solid humor, a strong story, or a plot that screams of creativity and plain weirdness.
I also like that this season is also not afraid to have genuine character conflicts too. The two-parter at the beginning of the season brought Jeff back in his relationship with Hayley and sort of tested it throughout that two-parter, by the end showing how strong their relationship is. "For Whom the Sleigh Bells Toll" was a crazy episode, but the heart of the episode was the conflict between Stan and Jeff, which had a really neat conclusion to it."License to Till," aside from being a hilarious episode, did a nice job showcasing Steve and Snot's genuine relationship by the end. Lastly I'll mention "Home Wrecker," which while not one of my favorites, had a really neat ending that showed how Stan and Francine truly are meant to be.
Overall, this is a really strong American Dad season. It has everything I like about the show. Hopefully season 7 continues this great streak the past two seasons have started.
