Sharp cheddar and butter melted into thinned (water added to make more 'soupy') clam chowder. Black pepper added for taste. After soup is real hot and everything is stirred-in, sprinkle another layer of black pepper on the surface and then a layer of fresh shredded sharp cheddar... then a tiny amount of pepper on the cheddar for presentation...Enjoy..

...oh, don't add any salt, cheese will add enough already!
