A quick drawing to illustrate the norm in those bony growths that can be found on top of every Altus' head.

Males have solid bone that make up their crest, the better to bash in skulls and keep their brains intact.

Females have crests as well, though due to the fact that they don't use them--at least, as much as males--, evolution has made theirs a little weaker, the crest breaking up into plates as they grow older and leave their hatchling years behind. This breakage is somewhat controllable, with some Altus family matriarchs even designing the patterns their crests develop into.

The shapes written on this guide are NOT mandatory. As long as your character's special place conforms to the guidelines set here, any shape is a go.
