I feel like if Peridot ever gets a redemption arch, when yellow diamond comes to earth to retrieve her, shell betray the crystal gems and something like this will happen\/\/\
im scared to make stuff like this now because the last few times I have, they've come true...

Actually..I think it would be the other way around.
So far, from the episode I've just watched Peridot is a murderous psychopathic kill-face of DEATH AND MURDER KILL DOOM DESTRUCTION DEEEEAAATHHHHH.

But in the same sense if there are thousands of Peridots like there are Pearls then she'd have no problem destroying one when she can just replace it

thousands of Peridots that all serve a function, we have seen how difficult it is to make a gem, Earth nearly died from the production of a few hundred gems in the kindergarten. We can only assume that their primary reason for conquering planets is to find new places for incubation of their species, and that most of these planets are already destroyed due to the gem production.
A gem is in short much more difficult to replace then a human, it is super easy to make a human compared to a gem, even the worlds dumbest idiot knows how to do that.
For that reason we can only assume that it is much more abhorrent for a gem to destroy another gem, then it is for a human to kill another human.

I get what thou were trying to do here, but such "pure evil antagonist" like this is too 1980's too two dimensional.
Yellow Diamond is surely a dictator, but there is a reason why Paridot idolises her. No matter how powerful she is individually, she cannot survive against a popular uprising, no leader can, so she need a cult of personality.
Part of what I think keeps the order in homeworld is a strong caste system.
From what we have seen so far, we can assume there to be at least four general castes.
In the bottom we have pearls, whose function is to be serverts,
above that is Corundum who function as traders, technicians and other miscellaneous positions.
above that we have quartz who function as soldiers,
and the very top diamonds that function as rulers.
Its clearly inspired by the Indian caste system
- Brahmanas - priest (diamond)
- Satrias - knighthood (Quartz)
- Wesias - commerce (Corundum)
- Sudras - servitude (Pearls)
For that reason I can only imagine that Yellow Diamond, along with the other three diamonds, are a religious figure in Homeworld, basically self stilled gods.
