- Buzzsaw, actually an Ex-Bot, met Sparkplug for the first time when the human was kidnapped by the Decepticons, who were looking for someone able to develop a process that would convert Earthen gasoline into fuel they could consume. Just as he did during the Korean war, Sparkplug sabotaged their plan by poisoning their fuel. [US #4]

- Buzzsaw is being attacked by a F/A-18 Hornet, a supersonic jet made by McDonnell Douglas (currently named Boeing).

- Spike will find the lifeless body of his father, at the morgue, in "Guilt". This event, conjointly with the fact the he also found his brother Buster dead, will free him from the mesmerizing effect suffered by Mindbender and Megatron.

- In Regeneration One, Sparkplug appears just once, after his death, as an emanation of the Dark Matrix creature, intent to torture Spike Witwicky in Zero Space. The creature aims to fuel Spike's guilt over abandoning his family and the population of Earth to their fate after Megatron and his army of Ex-Bots la unched a global attack.
