Now that Aniko is getting serious about competing after spending the first few years at Elk View just having fun at shows, she's decided to advance Newt's training. This gelding excels pretty well in low level eventing. He lacks in manners but he makes up for it with his beautiful natural movement and it certainly helps that he's bombproof. So, the beginning of this training comes naturally to Newt. Aniko didn't really feel like riding this day, but Newt needed to stretch his legs so a nice lunge in the indoor arena did him well. I think the first few sessions will be a breeze for this old guy, but can't wait to see as the pair advance further.

PS. You can hardly see because of where Newt is, but the gate into the arena is directly behind him and it practically blends into the rest of the wooden wall/railing. I needed to do more in the arena that wasn't the far wall that shows the forest behind the building. So, the background here shows a portion of the entrance hall with the large door painted dark blue in the background. And the beams in the top are the bottom of second floor where the viewing platform is located.
