Hello there, y'all. It's winter break and that means I actually have time to DO ART STUFF. YAY. This is that one annoying comic I've been idley working on sporatically since.. what, April? T__T
In response to a lot of silliness I've witnessed over the years in the interbutt art world. I wanted to make fun of certain people who've made me laugh with all their ARTDRAMA. Popular art dramaaaaa!! Deviantart is like E! for artists, I swear. >__>

I believe you earn a style by drawing throughout all your life experiences. Styles are developing and changing all the time, just like people. They never stop. Your style is who you are, and even if people can copy it, they'll never come close to being you.
If you're offended by this, you are very very silly and missing the point of this comic. =/

Hmmm. I like the point you're trying to make. Very true but to be honest, aren't we all stealing a style in a way? *shrug* I think in a way we all are even if it's just a bit of it.
Style this and that. That's all I ever hear and it's bothersome really. Makes people flame others.
Our styles are all similar in some way to another right? So heck with it. I do mind if it's exactly the same same style or if it's actual copying exactly of a pic.
The nagas... Yeah, they come from thai mythology and other countries. I know as I'm part thai and went to thai schooling.
I have respect for everyone's way of drawing, cause it's their work not mine. They can do what they want and draw what they want. I think they're all unique cause I haven't seen art quite that way and that gives me a new look at things and maybe ideas. Who knows.
Personally, I don't think I have a real style at all or that no body actually has their very own style. We all draw similar, the end. We actually all focuse our 'style' over certain main styles that were around for years and years.
I use different styles of drawing, cause I can't decide and it's fun to experiment right? Most people all started a style from anime or cartoon, some just do realistic life.
And I robably may be confusing possibly as I've taken these pills given to me by my doctor and they make me drowsily....
I'm not trying to be rude or anything here, just trying to stay my opinion. I respect your point of view. You don't like some certain styles, understandable and also irritated that some people are so protectice of their style and it may not just be thiers.
Here's a thing for everyone, if you don't want people stealing your style, don't even post it up or just freakin' leave and hope everyone will forget the style or at least it will die down. People draw in your style some times cause they want to experiment and see how you do it, and they probably just really admire your style.
It's life, we deal. Only get mad if they steal your complete pic like copy pic, save it, and then submit it, and they say it theirs but it's actually yours. Art theives! Screw them instead! THE END!

This tickled me. It's a wonderful representation of highly recognizable styles. And, while so many people are forgetting this is tongue and cheek, it's a nice reminder that we all need to step back once in a while and laugh at ourselves. 
BEAUTIFUL job imitating all those styles! The jennadelle panel knocked my socks off. Holy cow. The very last one got me all hiccupity. I had completely forgotten about IHD... I saw one comic a long while back and could never remember where it was. So that last panel made my day.

This is the greatest thing ever. XD Period.
I mean, seriously. I am SO SICK of people ripping the styles off of more popular artists--nagas, multicolored furries, and noseless chibis everywhere. Not to mention the complete lack of originality in most fanart pieces--most of it is just traced/recolored poses. Not to mention really sucky. I draw fanart, yes, and I appreciate the attention given to me for it, but I get really pissed when I slave my ass off working on a new picture of one of my original characters and only have it receive a few comments, most of which say "cute" or "he/she looks cool, good job". Argh, it's driving me up the WALL!
...Sorry to go on like that. This just really struck a chord with me.

Thanks! And I know what you mean. Fanart is easy to relate to and appreciate because your favorite character is already in it. XD But it's so much harder to get people's attention when introducing your own characters to the world. Most of the time I don't even bother. I keep most of my originals to myself and sometimes share them with friends only. One day I'd like to introduce them all in a story or something of that nature.

It's a comic, dude. It's called comedy relief. I'm poking simple fun at these people because their drama honestly does make me laugh. So what if I'm sharing that kind of fun? Jesus Christ eveyone takes everything so seriously personal.
I'm stabbing at the JV people who CAN ONLY draw in that kind of style. They do not attempt to venture outwards from there and thus become stagnant in their ways. This also applies to people who CAN ONLY draw TLK style or Disney style or Jenna style. I think it's pathetic when someone tries to BE another artist or gain popularity by copying their style.
However, as you said, most artists aren't trying to BECOME another artist. They're just starting out and are usually pretty harmless. Here's the kicker: the artists I mentioned by name and style go BATSHIT when they see these harmless little artlings. It's batshit when Evana went on a drama rampage because someone else had a lioness with fucking triangles under its eyes. Or like Jennadelle who freaks out about people putting dragons and glowsticks together in the same picture. Or Delya who gets pissed because other people draw Rayman styled shit too. Or even Jhonen who's just a whiney baby about everything art-related. Sometimes that kind of reaction is appropriate for the situation, but often it's just pride and paranoia. What the hell are these "sacred art gods" thinking? They're not, cuz their ego cut off the blood flow to their brain. It happens a lot. =/

Dot dot dot.... most of my friends draw "Rayman styled shit" and I'm perfectly cool with it. And, in case you didn't know, Rayman wasn't the first of his kind. 
I am in NO way an "art god" or whatever you call it. I think if you knew me better, you wouldn't be so swift to be as harsh as you are.

Honestly, when I think "art god" I think more towards Evana and Jenna. You're a lot nicer than either of them so far as I've seen. And less whiney. 8|
I didn't really think about the "before rayman there was:" possibility. I remember playing it way back when I had to rent a dumpy used playstation from Blockbuster to play anything at all. That's all I connect limblessness to for the most part. Others may have pioneered it but the rayman character really brought it out to the mainstream.
There's a reason many people don't know your contest is joke though, and I believe it's because your style did derive from rayman. It's confusing to see someone wig out (even jokingly!) about their style when it is similar to another's at a glance. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read your post and I'm glad you added the "YES it's a joke!" part because I am very very gullible. XD;; I do not think you copy rayman, and I CAN tell the difference between your style and such ('specially since I had to emulate it for this). You earned your style, and hey, be proud cuz it's yours. Who knows where it'll be in the future.
But yeah anyway.. ah, I am very sorry for saying that earlier and I take it back. It was wrong of me to say such a thing without knowing you a bit better. If I had something to say I should've said it more appropriately too. :T

And btw, a very wise man once said to me (a few minutes ago) "You gotta show a little ego, because if you're all 'blah' all the time- it'll start to show in your work." And it's true. So while my "ego" may be mostly a farce, it still helps drive me to continue doing what I do. XD As it does most artists I know.
